This is on my "to-do" list. I have the TC gussets sitting around. If @eimkeith comes out with something cooler before I get around to it, I will have to check it out. I was waiting to try to find some used spindles to match them up with so I can get them all welded up and painted before I swap them out. I was probably going to refresh my SPC UBJs while I have everything apart too.

@eimkeith ,

Well, I didn't think I had this much up travel...guess I need to follow your lead and trim the gussets back a bit. I am running SPC uppers, Radflo 2.5/650lb CO's. Do you think the shock tower damage is significant? Pretty much the same on both sides. Would you recommend reinforcing?

Aside from your comment on interference I haven't seen many threads about this and just assumed it didn't really happen much. Pretty sure this happened during a timed off-road track at the Southern Expedition Overland Challenge when I was going fast and fully flexing in sharp turns. FWIW the wheels have to be almost fully locked one way or the other for this to happen (at least for me.) Also bashed my rear lower shock mounts pretty good...have you made skids for those? Want to?

I don't see that as significant to the tower's strength, no. I would grind down/blend any edges and smooth it into the flange on either side, though. More concerning would be the possibility that if you are going that high, you might be bottoming out your strut and putting stress on the top of the tower - I'd check for that in the garage and check for cracking...

I kinda-sorta have, as part of the outboard shock mounts I'm working on - may have something going on that early next year if things go my way with the day job. (fingers crossed)

CAD drawings or it didn't happen. lol

As far as the lower shock mounts go. I just put a big fat grade eight 1 1/2" washer between the bolt and the mount. That washer has taken a beating but the mount and shock eye are still in good shape.
