That's really hard on steel as well. As the metal is constantly expanding and contracting which can make rust worse.
More temperate climates don't experience that and slowly change Temps seem to fair better.
The drier air is another good thing for steel.
Well that's what I have observed anyhow.
Alaska and the artic is a different environment in its own. Good to know they smart enough to stay away from the salt and other chemicals that really react with steel.
