Black soot, what is it?

It kinda just appeared almost overnight. From the pic, does it appear the manifold gasket needs replacing? So far everything is working fine..maybe a slight smell which I attribute to whatever is going on in the pic. Thanks in advance.

If you had black soot coming out of your intake manifold plenum your rig would be undrivable in my opinion

Yeah, this doesn't look like a leak.

Also, during operation the engine sucks air IN to the manifold, it would be odd for stuff to be coming back out.

Clean it up and see if it returns.
