Scotty Kilmer is a unique personality in the YouTube Automotive Repair Channel World. His yelling style is sort of odd but I think for the most part he does give good information to the viewer, and with a couple million subscribers, he's doing something right.

In YouTube World, the amount of subscribers you have is reflection of how successful your channel is. What's cool about automotive mechanic channels is people are coming to the channel for help and to learn. Sure, some hot girl could start a channel talking about utter nonsense and get a ton of subscribers because people find her entertaining and maybe they like to jerk off watching her videos but these people are subscribing because they're bored and they're easily entertained. I like to think automotive YouTube channels are really earning their subscribers because people aren't coming to them for some mindless entertainment. They are coming for knowledge and to learn a skill.

The find the success of Chris Fix is somewhat of an anomaly. He does make very well edited videos and his content is good. But, is his content better than guys like Eric the Car Guy, Ratchets and Wrenches, South Main Auto, to name a few? No, I think Chris Fix is pretty knowledgeable but he doesn't know as much as these other guys. What he obviously has is a style that people like for some reason. Everything is "Easy" and even though he's showing replacing a transmission on a Ford Mustang, you'll be able to follow his tips and do a transmission replacement on any vehicle, which we all know, isn't realistic.

Since @infamousRNR and I are YouTubers with our Timmy the Toolman channel, I thought I'd share my two cents since the comments seemed to be mainly about what they liked or didn't like about Scotty Kilmer.

He seems to have decent knowledge about a wide variety of cars but I find his presentation style very grating

Scotty Kilmer and Doug Demuro are just the shittier versions of Chrisfix and Regular Car Reviews

It's definitely style and production quality that make Chrisfix much more popular than Eric or any of the others. Sure they may know more, but they don't make their videos nearly as exciting or entertaining as Chrisfix. I've literally caught myself watching some of Chrisfix's videos that don't pertain to any vehicle I own just because they're fun to watch.
