Gray interior 3rd gen, how common?

How common is the gray vinyl and leather interior in the 3rd gen? It was a big reason I purchased mine as they seem hard to find. I was once told that it was a dealer installed option, but I doubt that is true.

Gray (actually moon mist) leather is very uncommon. The reason for this is that only very highly equipped 99-02 SR5's came with it. Limited models were only available with Tan interior and sport models came with special cloth seats. So a very small percentage of 4Runners built ever had it as an option.

This actually helps to explain why I was confused if I had a limited, even though it said sr5. I forgot I had the original window sticker, I attached a pic.

gray and moon mist are two different colors. My 2000 sport has moon mist and when I was looking for an interior part I soon discovered the difference. Moon mist is more of a blue gray

Since we’re on the topic of rare and moon mist. Is a 98 sr5 with cloth moon mist interior rare?

Moon Mist interior in general is not that rare... a lot of silver and white (and black, etc) Runners had moon mist (blue) interior.

Now, Moon Mist Leather IS rare. Another story there.

I have the same year runner and yep it’s moon mist. The truck is Evergreen Pearl. I had a bit of a time looking for an extra grab handle for the driver side of the truck since it doesn’t come with one. Lots of gray but not many moon mist.

Sounds like we both have the same exact truck thenGray interior 3rd gen, how common?. Didn’t like the green when I first got it. It definitely grew on me though.

Moon Mist looks good with my sons Silver 2000 Sport. Not sure I would care for it with Evergreen...

That's the first time I've ever seen that shade of leather in a 4Runner before so yeah, I'd say that's pretty rare.

This reminded me, you can look-up your window sticker online here with your VIN: Vehicle Specification | Toyota Owners
