Seam Sealer?

I ripped the interior carpet out of my 4runner yesterday. And PO(S) must have spilt coffee or coke and the liquid ran under the edges of the carpet.

and it seems to have saturated itself into this. Its not supposed to be brown, but is this just a seam sealer? I am thinking of cleaning this all up but I want to make sure I have something equivalent in place after i remove it. If its a seam sealer, can anyone recommend something to do a small touch up area like this?

I gotta few surface rust spots in the floor pans as well....any recommendations on that. its really light stuff...just want to fix it now while its out.

and a satisfying picture of a before and after on the rear passenger area.

I am not entirely sure, but somehow I got to believe this is not only sealer, but also noise reduction ... eh... stuff?

I am not aware of anything which can replace it.

Btw, on pic before cleaning it looked like there might be rust holes, but after it is not... so, was it just dust with some rust on surface only?

I could be mistaken, but that is a sound deadening material. Not a seam sealant. The Sealent looks totally different. :-)

Don't worry about it, nothing to seal. These are just rubber sheets stuck to the floor pan. But if the coffee discoloration bothered you, I guess you could hit with some sort of bleach spray.

awesome good deal. I guess I can pick something up at Orileys today and clean it up....if not oh well.

And no that pic of rear seat is no surface rust, its all just nasty BS from the other owners who left stuff drip down the seats....and add sand to the mix and and letting it soak for a few years and that is what you get.

I am going to take the cargo carpet out today....cant wait to see what that looks like.

You will be pleased with the results if you are

Is there a special material someone would use for that noise reduction?

I'm reading this as you are asking for noise reduction material recommendations.

This: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00URUIKAK...v_ov_lig_dp_it with this on top if you want extra noise/heat insulation:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07FYLM47D...v_ov_lig_dp_it

Roller:https://www.amazon.com/dp/B015WJH4ZW...v_ov_lig_dp_it

Both products are self adhesive so no need for spray.

That is the color of the OEM material there. It is a bitumen-based (tar) sound deadener. That's the factory stuff, just with the paint rubbed off of it. Nothing to clean or change.
