Elocker OEM wiring?

I have searched many a time and can only find DIY write ups not anything for OEM setups, I have an entire wiring harness that the guys at the dismantler pulled for me as it was apart of the axle price. They did however pull the wrong ECU (the green 4x4 instead of the black E-locker ECU so now I have a 4x4 ECU for sale) but apparently its the whole harness I saw no cuts on it.

I have the locker already installed. The switch is waiting for the cable hook ups and I have a Elocker ECU on its way now.

Are any of the other connectors used at all? I just don't wanna hook it all up when the correct ECU comes and mess anything up. I did not see a connector for the 4x4 ECU so I'm just a little lost on what to take and what to leave out when I install it all!

Thanks!

What you're assuming goes into the Elocker ECU, actually plugs into the body harness connector in the driver side kick panel. Depending on the year that this harness was pulled from, the connector may not even fit your vehicle.

The diff switch should have it's own connector (in the stock location), as well as the ECU (behind the kick panel). They'll be tucked/tapped out of the way.

Thank you!

So when you say ECU the last time, this is in regards to which ECU, 4x4 or Elocker?

I'm 90% sure it was the same year, but can't confirm that they pulled it from the car we looked at in their as I was not there for the pulling, on finding and picking up later.

Both the 4x4 & elocker ECUs connectors will be behind the driver kick panel. However, the elocker ECU connector will be tucked/tapped away from all the action. It took me a minute to locate mine when I was under there. Just look for all the green wires.

Right but from this harness it doesn't have a connector for the 4x4 ecu, so am i looking splicing it seems.

That harness isnt supposed to directly connect to the 4x4 ecu, nor the elocker ecu. Those connectors/wiring harnesses are located behind the kick panel.

No it's 4x4 already, I just added in the elocker axle complete and it came with this harness. So are you saying I need a harness from the elocker ecu to somewhere as well? I just stuck my head under the dash (did not take off any paneling) and didn't see any mass of green wires. I know the 4x4 ecu is behind the kick panel.

Green wires & elocker ecu connector will all be behind the kick panel. Only thing you should be concerned with behind the dash is the diff lock connector, which should be accessible from the switch plate hole (but you may have to fish around for it).

You shouldnt need any additional harnesses, but you may have to modify the one you got.

Ah I see, then this week sometime I'll take it apart and see whats there. I do not remember there being a black box just the green one.

So with the black one, when I get it, where does its wiring harness plug into since you said its not on the assembly I have currently as there are a lot of extra connectors on that thing and are all connected with each other. I really hope one of them is it. I was told this was the complete package and I already had to buy another ECU because they gave me the wrong one

New info found on my quest to get locked

So weird thing, I pulled the kick panel off today as I got the elocker ECU and there is no 4x4 ECU there, there is some custom wiring going on though that I have no idea where or what it belongs to.

Looks like I'll be buying this bad boy or this guy I just don't know which applies itself best to what I have. I am very confused now that there is no 4x4 ECU where I thought it was supposed to be, do the 5spd manuals not get them? Something needs to control the auto locking hubs right?

At this point I just want to get it working as I have spent quite a bit of change in the unit itself and then all the small crap that followed. Either of those harnesses I listed above are fine in price, just need to know which would be best in my application, I still want to use the stock switch and since I have the elocker ECU I can use that if it can be used in either application. Thank you for your input guys and gals!

I just went through this exact same thing. I ordered all the oem wiring harness, switch and ecu, only to find I wasn't pre-wired!

Hopefully you are pre-wired for the e-locker...not all 4runners were. poke around behind the push button blank and find the connector for the push button, (It will only have two wires going to it)http://sonoransteel.com/phong/wiring2.jpg
If that's not there, you may not be pre-wired (I Wasn't) and an aftermarket wiring harness will be your best bet.

This is the connector for the e-locker ECU: http://sonoransteel.com/phong/wiring1.jpg

Actually this is a fantastic writeup...http://sonoransteel.com/phong/retrof...ic_locker.html

I ended up ordering a custom wiring harness from lowrange offroad. http://www.lowrangeoffroad.com/yotam...-tdi-elwh.html A bit pricey, but wow...how easy can it get?

Ok thank you for that, I will check out to see I'm prewired, if I'm not I could just get the elocker ecu wiring harness as I have the harness that connects to the elocker itself and I have the oem switch which I would like to keep and utilize. Basically how the Sonoran steel guide does it, I'm guessing.

You will need 2 thinks to make sure your electronics are prewired.
1. Check to see if you have the yellow wire with a blue strip that goes into the back of your tachometer (follow the line from your DIFF LOCK light to the yellow/blue wire)
2. Check to see if you have the DIFF LOCK switch cable (black wire with yellow stripe and a green wire with yellow stripe; mine was really stuffed up behind the steering wheel).

If you have both of those then all you need from that wiring harness are 5 wires (4 green and one yellow with blue strip).
Just strip everything else that goes along the drivers side from your extra wiring harness.
It will be a big pain in the ass if you want to use the entire wiring harness.

From here you will need to learn how to take out the terminals.
First there is a little latch on the flat side of the plastic plugs/wire holders. Then you need a safety pin to lift the locking mechanism inside the plug (as seen in one of the pics below).
Now you should have an elocker plug with the five wires needed for your retrofit.

Now plug your five wires into the the plastic plug near your left foot (the wires from your ecu should connect to the top of this plug).
Then take the the end plastic plug you took off your extra wiring harness and place your rear brake wires into your new plug.
Lastly, connect it to your elocker harness coming from under your passenger seat. The wires should look like the last picture if you don't have ABS.

This is just a quick write-up but I hope it helps. Sorry for the HUGE PICTURES haha

So where do those 5 leads get plugged into? Like what connector?

Also that huge wiring harness I got does not have a connector for the elocker ecu so I'm a little confused as to what they have me. It plugs into the elocker side must fine, then it has the big connector for what plugs into behind the drivers seat. The connectors I have no idea what they are for at this point though.
