5VZ Cylinder head differences

So, here's and interesting question. Are the cylinder head castings different from driver to passenger side on the 5VZ engine?

I know that cams are side specific, but Im talking about just the head castings...

A little back story; I picked up a super cheap truck last winter from a guy I know. He was having trouble with a blown head gasket. So I'm slowly rebuilding this truck. I had the engine entirely machined, and I'm getting it all back together. So I pulled my heads out to get them on the block, and I had never looked at them side by side, lo and behold they are identical. So I just wanna make sure I'm not missing something here, anybody know?

For anyone who cares, or for posterity, whichever really. The left and right head castings are indeed identical. So if you are building a naked head, either side will do, as far as i can tell, and as far as google knows at this point.

Obligatory pic, heads on

I screwed up putting my heads on and had to get new gaskets and bolts. If I remember correctly I had them flipped. Can’t believe the head alignment dowels fit.

I went to put the coolant tube in and seen the exhaust ports looking at me and went oops.

I didn't believe this so I looked it up on Toyota's part database. You are right there's only one part number 1110169136 and the required quantity is 2!

Pretty sure most, if not all Vx engines use just one head,

Just keep in mind that once it is loaded with other parts, it becomes side specific...

I've been browsing the internet for 5VZFE flow numbers or 3VZFE flow numbers and i haven't found anything. I have found that a few members have ported the heads, but have no numbers.

On the 1MZ, I have a 2002 Article from Motor Trend that says a company GTE ported the 1MZ heads to [email protected]" lift with a 35mm intake valve, that before they were [email protected]" lift.

The 5VZ and 3VZ have the same bore spacing and a similar port and chamber design to the 1MZ heads, so the flow should be similar as 1mz. Stock 2JZ heads which have 33 intake valve vs the 34mm intake valve of the 1mz/5vz/3vz are said to flow around 230-240cfm @ .400" stock and there are many charts which show [email protected]". That ported they are able to get 280-300cfm out of the heads.

I also have a data point that ported heads on a 3.0L or 3.5L that flow around 250cfm peak gain 25-30whp on a n/a app when they are ported to move 280-300cfm. If there was boost of 16psi or more that gain would be 100+whp with the ported heads.

Just looking for a flow chart of 3vz or 5vz heads unported and ported.
