Alternator pulley confusion

So i had a couple of most parts after getting the original high-mileage motor to rebuild. But i’m starting to find out that the PO didnt pay attention to a lot of details and its causing me some trouble.

Alternator crapped out on me so i swapped on the spare i had from the JDM sludge motor. Well, the spare is a 4pk but my crank and fan pulley are both 6pk. No big, i thought, ill swap the pulleys. Turns out they are not interchangeable.

I dont have a second crank pulley but i do have the 4pk fan pulley. Went to PickNPull and compared 2 crank pulleys, both are 4pk

For reference, you can see both 6pks here

Grabbed the cleaner one and went home to swap it all out. Well, because its my luck, the fan pulley doesnt line up correctly with the other 2. Its offset by about a 1/4 inch and this also causes the fan pulley for the PS to be off a bit.

4pk fan pulley(doesnt align with crank or alt)

Looking at part numbers, i can find no trace of the 6pk system. So any clues as to what 5vz uses a wider alternator belt? Any reason that the 4pk fan pulley doesnt sit as close to the motor as it should?

Anyone else run into this?
Ive temporarily fixed the issue by running the 6pk fan pulley so the alt belt lines up but the PS belt is still offset.

I also just bought a JDM with the 6pk pulley. It came out of a van I was told. I have no idea what van in Japan that might be though.

I'm trying to understand it all. Are you saying the 4 rib pulley do not fit on an engine with the 6 rib system? What about it doesn't fit?

AHHHHHH ok that makes sense

well mine was fine and dandy until the 6PK alternator crapped out. I cannot find the 6PK alternator.
The 6PK pulley on the alternator will not fit the standard alternator if you try to swap it on. The base of the pulley contacts the case. In theory(if your alt went out) you could run the 4PK alt pulley and belt with the other two pulleys remaining 6PK.

I don't have access to all of the the original parts as i sold the other motor but the parts i do have don't completely line up.
The PO started the JDM swap but i reversed that, rebuilding the original motor. Trouble being, i don't know what parts were standard and which came from the JDM motor as he had swapped them all around.

Now I'm curious if the fan bracket is different, causing the pulleys to sit further away from the motor and offsetting my belts because the 4pk fan pulley should have solved my issue and its still off.

Gotcha, I missed that part. I'm swapping over all accessories from my USDM engine, so power steering, crank pulley, A/C, and alternator so should be good then. Had me worried for a second!

I'd make sure you swap the fan bracket too. I'm suspecting that is my culprit.

Toyota Hiace. Available in RWD or AWD form and I think also a diesel too.

Confirmed, the fan bracket is different on the 6PK system
