HEAVY vibration in 4x4.

Hey folks,

I've got a 98 manual 4x4 with e-locker, 235k. I've replaced the inner and outer tie rods and LBJ's with OEM. have new tires that are balanced, no vibration in RWD. religiously change the transfer case fluid with the good stuff. Use the 4x4 pretty frequently to keep it working, and because I do some light offroading. Used to do the gnarly shit but lately have been more into 3 or 4 out of 10, mostly just to get to high alpine views without hiking, since I tore my PCL in my knee and can't walk right for a while.

anyway, last winter, I noticed when driving in 4x4 in snow or icy conditions, around 40mph, it started to get a bit of vibration. around 55, it was pretty noticeable. (no, I don't drive on dry pavement in 4x4, ever). It was consistent and noticeable, but not bad. Changed the fluid just in case, no shavings, etc.

since the snow went away, I've only used the 4x4 for low speed offroading, so I haven't noticed the vibration. Well, today we got our first snow, and it's slick as hell out there. everyone and their mom is sliding sideways on the highway. Put it in 4x4...immediate vibration. much worse than it was last winter. got up to about 35, and it was shaking so bad the doors and windows were rattling.

Any ideas at what I'm dealing with here? Thanks

See if the front driveshaft U joints have any play in them. I guess the front driveshaft could have lost a weight and become out of balance also.
