Very well could be but the gas now has 10% ethanol in it, That can absorb quite a bit of water.

I am starting to wonder if we are starting to see the effects of ethanol and the gas varnish in these systems. We had quote a few folks with gunk in their gas tanks as of late and clogging fuel filters.

When an engine is starved for fuel, Crank sensor signal lost, Ignition is having issues bad coils they will misfire and shutdown. When your air filter is plugged or your Mass Airflow sensor is dirty is acting up they could run crazy or shutdown.

Vacuum leak mostly causes running rough. However, with the age of these now, hoses are starting to breakdown and crack.
