Run Relay? Fuel pump relay?

01 SR5 2wd v-6

I installed the new plugs today. Drove it around after - ran a bit better...

Went out an hour later, started motor and it quits, right after the starter runs. Fires, then quits. Does the same if I hold it on the start position.

Any help appreciated - I have no idea...

First suspect, verify that the ground by the computer plug is tight and intact, easy to forget after doing driver side plugs. Second, cam and crank sensors. See if you disturbed that wiring while messing with the plugs. These signals are what keep the engine running after starter motor stops.

You changed only the spark plugs and did nothing else???

What type of spark plug did you use?

Hopefully you use the daul electrode plug as they are required.

I never heard if this one. Unless something else happened right after you changed the plugs.

Why did you change the plugs to begin with they just due looked like they were extremely overdue or the engine was doing misfiring etc?

Any check engine lights? I agree, sounds like a faulty sensor or wiring to a sensor. A bad MAF will also cause the symptoms you described. I dropped mine once and it wouldn't start afterwards but threw a MAF code so I knew exactly what had happened...

I'm pretty sure the ground by the test port is ok.

Where is the wiring to the cam/crank sensors? Is it where I might have messed with it while replacing the plugs?

I reset the computer. I'll look for codes tomorrow morning.

OK - well, when I replaced the coils I cleaned the contacts then used silicone electrical grease on them, of course.

The clips that held the wires onto the coils fell off when I removed them. Typical, for 19 year old plastic.

The code (clue) offered by the computer was 1300 - bad coil cyl #1. Uh Huh.

Removed the snorkel. (Hey, will an after market snorkel do me any good?) The front two coils had the wires pushed up, almost off the coils. Aha! Grease made an airtight seal. Air pressure pushed the wires up and off - rofl!

Used my trusty tie-wraps to assure the coils resist wander-lust in future.

It STILL would not stay running but sounded different. I thought it might have been because the snorkel was not hooked up and the MAP was not breathing. Re-installed snorkel - BINGO!

Glad your making progress. :] Sensors and engine wiring clips can ruin a good day.

I believe the electrical wiring diagram [EWD] manual have the part numbers for all the electronical clips. I thought I remember seeing those in that particular manual. Not 100% on that though.
