Hope this helps, tested the time on my parts collection.

OEM might be the original one on the truck with 214k when I replaced it. BS 5100 for 3rd gen has less than 2 years on it.

Also my LCA moved the same way on both sides when I was adjusting the perch on the 5100 so it doesn't seem out of whack.

On that shock, you could use a full 1/2" spacer (~1 inch lift). You will need extended studs for the top plate/mount.

Wow, that's way faster than mine. Time for new shocks I guess!

Good to know, that's a relief. Thanks Wei!

Thanks for confirming Charlie! I went ahead and ordered the 1/2" spacers, but will check this again since I also ordered new shocks.

Put in the 1/2" top plate spacers today, along with new shocks.

I went with KYB KG9025 Gas-a-Just shocks, basic OEM replacement. Here they are side by side:

The new shocks extend much faster than my old ones did, for what it's worth.

To install the top spacers, I replaced the original top plate studs with longer studs:

Here is the shock assembly with the spacer on top:

I double checked droop and full compression, and found that I have margin at each end of travel.

After driving around the block, I rechecked the hub to flare distance - it went from 21.25" to about 22.75", a bit more than I planned for. Hopefully it'll settle in a bit after driving some more (otherwise I'm going to have to raise the rear to make it level, not sure how my wife is going to like that). Here's a comp photo:

Where do you get those extended studs?

Do you have a full side shot showing both front and rear?

You know now that you have a front lift you'll have to get a rear one...then sliders...then steel bumpers...the list gets long and the wallet gets thin.

I got the studs here - 2" Top Plate Stud, Set of 6

They are a bit overkill for the 1/2" spacers, but the original studs were going to be too short.

Here is the truck in its full glory, front end pointing upwards . Maybe it'll settle.

I'm surprised it lifted the front end that much too! I don't expect it to settle, as they are your original springs, right? Maybe some smaller spacers are in your future...

And you can see the difference in the extended length of the new shocks there, compared to stock...

Yup, original springs, not much settling to be expected there for sure. One area where it might settle a tiny bit is that there was a permanent indentation in the rubber spring isolator under the mount from the spring end. I rotated the isolator so that a undented portion was now under the spring end, but the indentation was no more than about 1/8". So not much to be gained there.

Good news is that if/when I decide to use a smaller spacer, I won't have to undo the spring from the shock, just drop the whole assembly and slide in a new spacer. I can almost do that with my eyes closed now.

Dumb question, can you swap those studs without disassembling the strut/coil?

Unfortunately not. So you'd want to do this at the same time as swapping shocks or springs, unless you enjoy using the spring compressor over and over .
