Oil Change Interval?

Hey guys. I searched on the site but could not find what the owners manual states is the oil change interval. I have a 2002 4runner V6. is it 7500 miles? Thanks in advance, huero.

Under certain conditions the manual calls for 7500, but if you look at the fine print just about nobody drives the way they state for that interval. Pretty much any dirt roads, any short trips or any stop and go place you in the extreme category. Personally I change my oil every 5,000 using Mobil 1 oil and a Mobil 1 filter.

I wouldn't go over 5k with dino oil due to possible sludge buildup issues which using synthetics drastically reduces the chances of buildup.

I go 8-9k using Mobile 1 syn and a Puralator PureOne filter.

I used to go every 3000 on the dot, but now it's more like 4000-5000. This is on regular dino oil, too. If you're on synthetic, 6000-10000 miles is acceptable (depending on driving conditions).

You can test it yourself. Drive 4000-5000 miles, send your oil in (Blackstone Lab), and they'll send you back the results. If everything looks good, make that your change interval (assuming your driving conditions will be the same).

I change mine every 3000. I have only got 70K miles on my '98 but it is kinda dark at 3000 miles and I look at it as cheap insurance.

i've had my truck since new and have only used regular oil. the first 80k miles came onto the truck pretty quick, so i would change it every 3k. now i change it every 4 - 5k since i only do about 10k per year, but have never gone longer than 5k between changes.

i saw 111,111 yesterday on the odo... i rolled 100,000 last mother's day...

Cool

Toyota dealer says 5,000. Most mechanics say 3,000. So I do mine at 4,000.
