Windshield Help Please
The glass company I am using to get my windshield replaced is telling me Pilkington is no longer making a windshield for our rigs. They're gonna order a PGW- which is fine- but can anyone confirm they aren't blowing smoke up my skirt?

You may also try AP Tech. It's OEM and for Honda and I had its glass installed as replacement on our previous Honda's and on my first-gen. Very happy with it. On the other hand LOF brand sucked on my Honda's.

A picture paints a thousand words.
Toyota components are bullet-proof. Issues often arise from poor wiring, assembly and/or maintenance. Suspect those first.
Next only to our senses, the multi-meter is the most important electrical diagnostic tool. Spend $6 at Harbor Freight or $$$ blindly replacing parts.

Windshield Help Please
Yeah, I did call and check their website.
Very confusing answering system, and- after calling 5 times, trying different extensions- wasn't able to get through to anyone at all.
Finally called the classics dept, and he said they haven't been making a windshield for our rigs for over 10 years.

So, I guess the Pilkington windshield on my 4Runner is a collectors item now?

Whatever you do, steer clear from the triangle logo brand windshield (I'll take a pic this evening to show you the logo). My brother has that windshield on his 100 series LC and it looks hoodd. If you're looking up like if you were to read a street sign, everything looks distorted. Almost looks like the windshield has a prescription like eye glasses. And, it has a 8" crack running horizontally that occurred 2 months after the install according to the owner we bought it from.
PPG is a decent brand, no?

Yeah, fck that!! A guy in our local group just had a horrible windshield experience, and it sounds just like your brothers glass. Hard pass on that.
Yes! PPG is great, and that's what's OEM on my rig right now. PPG is now PGW, and that's what I am having installed Friday. Thanks for the warning on that triangle brand
I'd love a brand new OEM Toyota-branded unit, but I'm sure that would be much more than the PGW.
@ I'mStock
what's the list price on those(if there are any left)?

I'll have to check tomorrow but I'm pretty sure they're discontinued? I feel like I looked them up last month...

You did. That's why I asked. I remember someone asking, and you listed what was currently left in stock for the bronze and green. Just curious if there are any still left, and if so, if they're way outta my windshield budget.

Oh, it was for you??
For an '01 I get two parts numbers for green (and none for bronze?) that both supersede into the same part number (5611135161)
True list seems to be $580.XX and I show 8 available at various PDCs across the country, one of which is Portland

I just got my windshield replaced. It originally had the Pilkington logo:
From what I understand, in 1999 Pilkington stopped manufacturing in US and instead outsourced it to China. Now it's listed as CHANGCHUN PILKINGTON SAFETY GLASS CO., LTD.
The PGW is also aftermarket, not sure where they manufacture theirs though and not sure how it compares to OEM or Pilkington. It was the only one available from Omaha Glass Pro and got it installed for $230.

Kind of, I guess. The glass I had replaced today was OEM, and made by PPG.
PPG renamed their glass division to PGW-
Pilkington and PPG were both OEM glass.

Yup. I didn't take a picture, but the PGW I had installed today said "Made in China" on the label stuck to the glass
