My 2001 paid the price at 265k miles for living in the rust belt in Ohio with an owner who wasn’t savvy to rust prevention. I will say that the rest of the truck refused to die. You own a mechanical marvel - take care of it and it’ll amaze you with its durability. Congratulations!

The rust belt is hard on all vehicles. Especially the ones that the owners do nothing to the undercarriage of the chassis.

I bet Ohio is full of extreme rust buckets as that state doesn't have inspections. Ever see a vehicle bend from being extremely rotted out yet?

Heck I seen a few busted frames trucks driving around here. No way are those vehicles have legal inspections on them.. As in PA a rust hole in the a frame is instant failure of a state inspection.

The 4 runners do last and run a very long time. Most of mine previous Toyotas rotted to nothing before they quit running.
