Red face What Color Should I Paint My Flares?

Previous owner did a number on this truck before I got ahold of it, one of which being the cheapest Maaco paint job in an ivory-ish cream thats so bad you think of spoiled milk when you see it. New paint is on the to-do list but those type of funds are not available ATM so I figured I’d at least spray the flares. I’ve been thinking about colors ever since I got the truck but haven’t put much time to it, so I’m asking for help. I was playing around with what blacks I had laying about: Matte, Satin, Gloss, Semi-Gloss and Matte Clear but am not feeling too fond of the extreme contrast. I haven’t got any lying around, but flying around in my head is some sort of grey (gunmetal, metallic, stone?) or brown or green?

I would love to hear what color(s) you’d use if this was your truck.

It looks like those are the "skinny black" flares that were unpainted from the factory. If you want them to look OEM, go SEM Trim Black. Anything else is up to you...

I would leave them black. Well at least until you see what color you end up with on the rig itself.

I always wanted to paint a 3rd Gen Raceway Blue. But doubt I ever will paint one different from its original color..

Creame is a hard color to visualize other colors with in my opinion. White would show all the dirt on your flare. Silver may work.

I generally feel that fender flares look best the same color as the bumpers, and on Limiteds, the "connected" side cladding along sides...

@brillo_76 I do have a couple cans of metallic silver. I wish I knew how to edit photos. Would make this whole situation a lot easier.

Thanks for all of the replies. Hoping for more suggestions. These “skinny flares“ are SR5 flares, correct?

Yes. There was a later 'wide' SR5 flare too that was painted and matches the width of the Limited flares but without the door cladding.

Yes they also have a thin aluminum looking bolt on trim piece on the sr5 too. My Tetanus 1 had those before I change it to the wide limited flares that are painted silver.

I also vote to leave them as is for now. Hard to decide what you want to do with the fenders until you decide what to do with the rest of the paint.
