Flex Plate inspection

I've read a lot of psa's about folks warning others to check the flex Plate. I also read that there is some kind of access panel that can be removed to inspect the plate, I assume without a big fuss.

I can't find any pictures or videos on this and wondered if anyone has done this or at least knows where the panel is? I also what to know what I'm looking for as well when I look inside there. Should I get a little mechanics mirror to stick up there?

I do not believe that I hear any of the sounds that indicate a cracked one, but if it isn't ultra difficult I would feel good to check it out for the peace of mind.

There is a window that you can look through to inspect under the car where the transmission bolts up. They get pretty loud, you are probably fine unless you can here it getting cranky. Use Toyota OEM ONLY!

Should have better info for you tomorrow since that's what I'll be doing. I've never removed the inspection plate either so it'll be a learning experience. I bought a borescope just in case. @mtbtim & @infamousRNR have a video that shows where cracks in the flexplate usually occur. It's the 3rd part of their transmission replacement video series. The flexplate is discussed at 8min 22s.

Thanks @fourfive for the video plug. I'm going to add that our Transmission Replacement Part 2 video at play time 17:03 shows us removing the access plate on the bottom of the bell housing.

You can actually see a lot more of it than I thought, doesn't seem horrible.
