If you can afford, skip the LQ9 and get an aluminum block variant. It saves you 80lbs. Also, LQ4s are usually cheaper and the diff between that and the LQ9 is the piston tops. The LQ9 has like a half point extra compression. I have an built LQ4 block in my car. It's a hefty girl.
You can save a ton of money and get a factory harness and PCM from a chevy. Its super simple to adapt it to another car. Though your factory cluster integration is a diff issue. Just get a racepak for that if you have the scratch.

Awesome! Tweak'd is just below the OP and I in South Carolina.
Looks like they specialize in both Toyota and GM LSX, so the crossover knowledge makes sense.
I wonder how they'd price a harness mod for an LSX considering you can get an entire Holley Terminator X ECU to run an LS for $1,000 new these days. That termX is really a game changer.

If I decide to do an LS swap I'll be doing it with a manual so I can use the adapter from marks4wd to keep the toyota transmission/transfer case.

From the limited research I've done, I believe the front DS will clear with a 1" body lift on a 4x4 LS swapped 3rd Gen

The batwing style oil pan on C5 vettes are wide and lower profile vertically than the car and truck pans, so they may be the way to go clearance wise.

Meh. Price was right on the LQ9 lol. Came attached to a relatively flat escalade too. IMHO I'd spend the money on a built harness and run stock gauges. Just like the idea of leaving that part stock. Don't get me wrong, racepaks are great, set one up in a F100 years ago.

They're great guys for sure. I can't remember if I got that far in the process or not. I'm in the middle of buying a house now so the fun stuff got put on hold.

I was thinking the GTO style pan might fit. Too bad the mock blocks are so expensive. If it comes to it you could probably run a dry sump configuration

True. If I could find a used stock dry sump kit off an LS7 for cheap. I def. don't want to dump massive amounts of money into this project though. Aftermarket dry sump kits are $$.
I want to say the GTO pans are the same as the F-body pan I have bolted on the block now. Whenever I decide I want to test this idea out, ill prob try lowering in the engine with that pan first. It's already plumbed with a -12AN turbo drain, so i'm like 0.5% closer if I wanted to boost it. These engines can make up to 1000hp stock depending on how long you want it to last and as long as they dont predet
People are pulling those 5.3L from the junkyard, throwing them in fbody camaros with 80mm turbos and making 1000hp for like 5 track passes. They blow them up, then pull another motor for 150 bucks.

It never was 4WD, look at the interior shifter. There were lots of 2WD 4Runners in southern states.

I legitimately thought the SR5s were only 4wd. I see in your sig you have yours swapped too.

Someone I know did one here on island. He ended up yanking out the diff to get it to fit. Doesn't mean you couldn't get it to fit, but 400 hp does not do you much good offroad in a basic 4runner. I will try to get some pics this weekend

I'm keeping my 5vz. With 5.29s it turns my 35's well enough and with dual cases it's got plenty of torque. lol

Oh man. I’m interested in understanding if he yanked the diff and went 2wd because he straight up couldn’t get it to work with it in. That is disheartening to hear if so. Would love to see some pics of that rig
