You want that 360 view? you can get one of those kits that stitch together 4 wide angle cameras and combined into one output.

I'm not recommending this exact kit, but here's an example in case you didn't know about this system

Amazon.com
This link is unfortunately dead 4 years later. Does anyone know a good link for a product like this? I tried searching for a product like this and came up empty handed.

Also on the subject of Atoto I'm contemplating either the A6 9" or the F7 10.1". Basically it's coming down to whether I want a standalone android or just android auto. I'm leaning towards the standalone since I found out about APRS (automatic packet reporting system) that is a nifty digital communication system that works over ham that you can do things like share location with. Either way I've never replaced a head unit. What all do I need to actually plug this into my vehicle? I've currently got a Alpine single din that is getting flakey on me. Not sure if the stock amp is still back there. What do I need as far as other harnesses to actually hook this up to my truck, does everything I need potentially come with the head unit?

The oem Amp is only for oem radios. So you need to get the connectors from the bottom on that Amp. Being your not oem there is probably a pigtail connector plugging the oem harness to your current radio.

Basically you need to wire up those pigtails to your new radio.

Actually I just pulled my bezel apart and got a good look at things. Currently I am wired up with the Alpine radio to what I assume is the OEM amp (it's in the OEM amp slot). Works find other than the connectivity issues and my mic having died.

Yup just checked through the pictures I took in there, they are using some aftermarket harness on the amp harness side and they have a bunch of crimp connectors going to the Alpine harness. I should be able to reuse the aftermarket transition harness in this project as long as I can get a wiring diagram.

Ok get a wire harness pigtail for a 3rd gen toyota 4 runner. It will come with a wiring diagram. So you can get it all made up with the new radio then swap it out. This will have less downtime . Granted you need to run the extra stuff.

How did the S8 work out for you? Did you install just the head unit with stock speakers?

hey, sorry havent been back in a bit. have not had any time to install. been sitting there for over couple wks now in box. there s no way im putting decent head unit in with 24yr yr old speakers lol. i also bought fosgate 3ways for front 6.5s & there 2way for rears 5.25s i think. but for me this is a luxary item and will be near bottom of my priority list for a while.

im not a base type music listener, so no subs etc. but if i could do over speakers id look hard at infinitys (ref)maybe, saw reviews after id bought fosgates but really im sure ill be estatic compared to what im currently running.
