Gotta be clean or totally caked up with dirt. Riding around in a dusty old rig isn’t a good look.

Clean is good
Today I clean the rear end of 1997 Toyota 4Runner, and no matter how I scrub that back end, those dents still remain! The bumper is still pushed, but it does look much better! maybe tomorrow, I might vacuum it out for the first time ever! Right after I got this ride, my wife accused me of trying to kill it! I got the old changed, the fuel filter replaced twice as I screwed up the first try! I replaced that huge rubber hose from the MAP Sensor assembly to the Throttle Body Housing! Oh, and also the Air Filter! so guess I cleaning this jewel from the inside out! She accused me of killing it because I placed 2,440 pounds of concrete in the back seat to it back end, stacked nice and neat as I wanted to get all of them home as soon as I could do so, somewhat safely! First load was same with also pulling a half ton on a trailer! Yup, crazy guy! So wife is right, but she rode in it and said it did ride okay and try not to kill it! Anyway, tomorrow, the Vacuums turn!

I'm honestly surprised that everyone is on the clean side. Then again, maybe not since we all love our rigs so much. I agree that there is a fine line between looking nice and dirty and looking like you live in it. To each their own. Happy New Years everyone.

I blast all the mud and dirt off the bottom because I don't like it falling in my eyes when i work on it, my paint is pretty bad so I just hose and towel it off.

Yet another clean person. Maybe obsessively so as I'd bet that most people would think that as my 4runner sits now, it'd be clean enough and I see it as in Desperate need of a wash. A lot of that comes from my wife wearing off on me, she just feels better with a clean vehicle. But some of it comes from my mechanic background where it just sucks to work on dirty vehicles. To the point that I always spend a day cleaning and de-greasing the engine bay (bottom more than top) and undercarriage.
As for getting off-road, I do that for me and for the experience of having done it. Leaving the remnants for Other people to see is not something my soul craves, thinking about it now I'm cringing a little.

I feel you on that. Acting like you are the only dude who hits dirt in their truck is a dick move too. I guess I am just on the opposite end. I cringe a little when I see too many LEDs and sidewalls that look like they are hit with some Armor All at every stop light. Just a matter of opinions I guess. Hope 3veryone is having a good start to the New Year.

I do enjoy taking my 4Runner out and getting it dirty, but also like the look of it completely clean inside and out.

Count me in on the obsessive side of clean. Just feel the better you take care of things, the longer they last. And obviously that goes well beyond my 4Runner. If I hit some dirt/mud, I'll sometimes hold off for a few days before I clean it. But I always make sure to clean it pretty quick.

And some people think that a frame recall is necessary while driving around in caked mud to look cool.

the way i look at it, i didn't buy the thing to look pretty, i bought it to do stuff. i keep the interior clean and organized, but hardly ever wash the exterior.
honestly, i was a little more conscientious of the aesthetics before it got totaled and i had to hammer the bumper back into shape. i don't think it looks bad now, but it's a bit banged up and i've lost any interest in keeping it shiny. i've always been a function over form sort of person anyway
