Looks good Tim. I found out years ago that dating a medical supply specialist had its perks ( I think I still have some syringes somewhere).
Btw, how is the health outlook for 2020?
My back is doing a lot better, very little pain and numbness in my right leg but I'm still off work. They haven't officially accepted my workman's comp claim so I'm still burning my own time. Luckily I had a ton of vacation time built up.
I think there's a chance I could be back to work in a month or so. The worry is I go back too soon and my disk blows out again. It sort of looks like my disk tore from the MRI and disk nucleus squeezed out putting pressure on the nerve. It takes a while for the disk to heal. Firefighting can be very physical at times even when it's a medical call because people aren't exactly getting lighter.
I've got a great chiropractor I'm seeing 3 times a week and I'm exercising doing core work. walks and easy bike rides. Hopefully i'll continue to improve like I have been. Thanks for asking.

Oh no, not you too Tim! I know 3 friends going through exactly what your going through so I know it's a sometimes complicated marathon and not a sprint to recovery.
Glad to hear that you are making positive strides to being well. Having a good chiropractor is a must to keep pain to low levels. A lot of us take walking around pain free for granted.
Keep making those great strides in 2020!
Tim,
You need to go to Physical therapy. chiropractors are made up science. I got rear ended by a Van going 50mph and pt helped so much, well that and acupuncture. I know people hate needles but after the first treatment its crazy addictive cause it helps with nerve pain so much. Get well soon Sir! keep the vids coming I appreciate them, thank you.

Thanks. The pain was incredibly bad. The worst pain I've ever experienced in my life. I've broken lots of bones and hit the deck hard from plenty of mtn bike crashes and nothing compared to that gnarly nerve pain in my leg. I could barely get any sleep for the first 3 weeks after the injury. At first I could barely walk 20 yards without being in excruciating pain. Now, I can walk 5 miles and only have very mild discomfort. You're exactly right that we take our health for granted. I'm a very physically active person, biking, hiking, backpacking, volunteer trail work and turning wrenches and this was a big blow to feel that incapacitated. I'm on the mend and hope I never revisit that level of pain again but I do know it's a possibility I will. I now have more empathy for people when they say they have back problems.

I'm basically doing my own physical therapy. I'm doing core work, stretching and easy cardio with hikes and mellow bike rides. My work sent me to a physical therapy place but it was a joke. The exercises they were giving me were meant for 80 year old women.
I realize there's quackery in Chiropractic but I've found some good chiropractors over the years and they have definitely helped me. The guy I'm seeing is a rehabilitative chiropractor and he's been putting me on a spinal decompression table, using laser treatment to enhance healing and using a sonic wave machine that uses sound waves to break up scar tissue. He's also done muscle work to get my vertebrae and SI joints moving better. All these techniques have proven results.
I've tried Acupuncture a couple times. Once for tendinitis in my forearm and recently for this current problem. For the tendinitis, I went to a ton of sessions and never got results. For my back problem, I went to around 5 visits and then gave up as well. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. I've gotten way better results with chiropractic care than acupuncture.
Anyway, thanks. We will continue to make videos, no doubt.

Well said. Sorry to read about your injury and pain. Hope you get to 100 percent soon. Your contribution to the 4runner community is epic. Thanks for all that you do and your service as a firefighter.
