I'm not sure how to tag him though, but maybe he could offer something else... I'm also very interested to hear how the Dobinsons fit and handle weight.

His JLs were too soft after he put the spare tire on the rear, IIRC.

With just the bumper, tools/gear, and small ice chest, I was sitting around 1.5-2" of lift with the JL coils. Once I put the spare tire on, and moved the battery to the rear, it sat probably less than 1" of lift, so I put my 8 wraps back on, and now I'm sitting around 2.5-3" of lift. With the current setup, it has a good enough lift height, and soft enough to perform well.

I find that sometimes I get a little wiggle back there and some harsher bounces, to combat that I have airbags inside the coils, and I should probably step up to a 2.5 shock in the back not just the 2.0.

Also a big fan of my 861s.
I've got a drawer system in the back, 50 qt. fridge, lots of tools, spare parts, swing out bumper w/ 35" tire, recovery equipment, sub & amp, ARB dual compressor, and whatever camping gear we need. Plus more tools on top in a pelican case.
Most of my trips are also with my lady friend and our two dogs (~60 lbs each). Guessing loaded up, my weight is somewhere in the 5250-5500 lb range. It's a lot. FWIW, it isn't my daily and most of our trips involve setting up a base camp and wheeling from there. A good amount of the weight comes out with that but all tools, recovery gear, fridge, etc. remains in the 4Runner.
This picture does a pretty decent job of showing how low these things get when weighed down.

In that case maybe I'll look into stock LC coils. I won't be carrying a significant amount of weight anytime in the near future and my bumper will be as light and close to the body as possible.

I hope I'm not ruining the initial discussion of the thread, but are the stock landcruiser coils progressive? I would really like a progressive coil in the back (I have no added weight) and in the 3-inch lift range.
I have the 890s which are great, but might need a little more lift in the back. Maybe I just took the wrong advice and should get a shock to fit my coils instead of the other way around. I'm running 4th gen 5100 with the 890s.

I had the same setup and was riding my extended bumpstops too often when wheeling so I got the Superflex coils. I was at the point that I wanted something that could handle at least a couple hundred pounds and still get 3” of lift so in my case the coil swap was and easy decision. I loved my 890’s for daily driving and wheeling but they just didn’t sit high enough for my usage with extended bumpstops and some extra weight when wheeling.
To answer your question, LC coils are linear and are not great at holding weight. The upside is that since they sit so high to begin with, once loaded down they will still sit at a decent height. Possibly too much lift unloaded if you like the 3” lift hight range of the 890’s.

So I just got the 210v springs today. They're labeled left and right side. There's a little diagram on the box with a top down view of a right hand drive car facing forward. It's showing that left is the passenger side and right is driver. Since we don't have right hand drive cars here obviously would I swap the sides and put the one labeled right on my driver side?

No, keep the coil spring position as indicated on the diagram. most of the weights are on the left so the effect of the RHD position is minimal

So I finally replaced my rear coils that they previous owner setup. I replaced the OME 891 coils with 2" lift spacers with the ToyTec "SuperLift" coils they sell today. Not sure if they are the same as the original superlifts but they are a HUGE ride improvement.
After Kings and now the coils I really hope to be done messing with the suspension for a while. But damn it rides nice now.

honestly 890 are the worst spring I ever ran. LC 7.5 wrap alot better but be better if it hold weight.

The King OEM upgrade with extra travel on the 600 lb springs. My wife and I spent all day yesterday driving around on various roads and I wish I had done this sooner. I am traveling for work this week but hope to get on the trails in a few weeks to check out the travel on the shocks soon.
