Little update here if anyone still cares, got mine fixed but had no actual broken wires. I do however have a bad rear wiper motor and, surprisingly, the window down function grounds on the wiper motor. Once i figured that out, i removed the bad wiper motor and just replaced the ground. works great now and i would not have expected that at all.

thanks again @brillo_76 for the wiring diagram

Do you have any pics for reference? My wiper and window started giving me issues after trying to remove the super frozen/stripped nut on the wiper stud and now neither work. I can hear the relay clicking and I'm thinking a wire issue, but I ripped into the bundle going from the tailgate to the body and have no broken wires. So I'm thinking it might be similar to your issue.

The wiper and window are interlocked - you can't operate the wiper with the window down and you can operate the window with the wiper on. There are limit detection switches, etc. that make sure this happens. You may have a problem in that part of the system instead of the boot wiring at the top.

^this explained my issue, sorry i dont have pics.

I didnt care about the wiper so i just removed the busted one and left it out.
I tested the wires going into the wiper motor and found that if i grounded the bottom left(while looking at the connector, blue w/black or blue w/white) the window worked again in both directions so my issue is either the wiper dock sensor? or the wiper motor itself. Regardless, it works fine now with that wire grounded and no wiper.

Interesting, good to know. Thanks for the info. I'll try and play around with it some more while I'm throwing parts at the problem.

Hi folks

Used this forum posting to locate my issues with rear hatch power (wires broken at loom, repaired with buttsplices and rewrapped)

I broke the grey grommet that assists holding the bootwrap at the body.

Had some leak issues in rear trunk during rain storm.

Looking for replacement part as I can't imagine it would be expensive- but having no luck Google or forum searching the name of the grey body grommet, or Toyota part number....

Any help appreciated. Thanks!

Hi ,I was wondering if someone could help me on this forum, i have a problem with my liftgate window rolling itself down , and it will not roll itself back up. Neither the dash switch or the key on the liftgate will get it to go up again, im assuming its a short wire somewhere, maybe from the ecu? so I read about hotwiring it with a small 12v battery. So long story short I have the panel off and located what I think is the plug for then motor and it has six wires, which ones do i have to apply 12v to to get it to roll up? I have pictures of it below. My goal is to get the window back up and leave the motor unplugged, I dont ever use the liftgate window anyways, any advice would be appreciated, tia

Check the wiring bundle that goes from the body into the liftgate- they have a history of broken wires.

You will have to unwrap and then reconnect/repair whatever wire damage that you find. I found 4 broken wires in my bundle that made my window defogger inoperative -

2008 4R window stopped working

Thanks all for sharing your insight and Brillo_76 for the diagrams!
I did check the wires in the boot and they look pristine. Here are my observations:
Trying to lower the tailgate window with key: so sound, no movement
Trying to lower the tailgate window with button on remote: so sound, no movement
Trying to lower the tailgate window with button on front console: I hear something clicking in the tailgate electrical box. But no movement.
Rear wiper is not working.
I did check the correct seating of the rear wiper. I understand there is a sensor that checks the position of the rear wiper?

It all started with the tailgate lock. I close the tailgate, lock closes, few seconds later I hear the motor work again and then the tailgate didn't open. Found a trick online to reset the ECU-B by pulling the fuse. I did that for about 4 weeks. When I got tired of that I started lowering the tailgate window to reach into the little access hole to use the levers on the latch to open the tailgate. For that I had to pull that plastic dustcover sheet off a little.

After two weeks I noticed that the rear window had trouble coming up. I had to pull on it a few times to close it. (The same happened once with the passenger side window) Then it finally stopped moving and I opened up the tailgate to investigate. I found that the plastic dustcover had gotten stuck to the window and had peeled off. Maybe jamming something? I cleaned the latch which now locks again properly. All other windows and the sun-roof are working.

At this point I am blaming the motor. Is there a way to determine if it is broken with a multimeter? I cannot find a diagram that shows which of the 6 Pins is what.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
