Strut top bolt doesn't have enough threads

So I installed 90004 OME struts wit 883 coils ( I have armor and winch up front). My drivers side went fine. On my passenger side I couldn't get the strut to feed through enough to put the rubber bushing, wash and nut on. I tried a thinner washer, a thinner bushing ( my old compressed one) and nothing. I'm not driving it as it is because currently all I could do was put my old worn compressed bushing on with the nut.

I tried compressing the spring again jacking up the lca. No go.

I tried adding a bottle jack into the mix with my hydraulic to further compress my lca...No go.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Not the proper way to do it but, in a pinch, I would try to compress the spring evenly with ratchet straps on both sides.
The proper way to compress the spring is to use a dedicated spring compressor tool.

Did you mount the bottom spring resting plate on the strut upside down?

let the weight of the vehicle compress the coils by installing the tires then release the jack. you can then tighten the nut and apply a second nut to lock the first nut.

Nope. Installed same way on driver side and went super smooth. The set plate is oriented correctly with the spring sitting in the plate correctly.

I may try to double nut method mentioned above to pull the threads through...

Like HiLife says. Use a spring compressor so you dont get hurt. I believe eurozone will let you buy a tool and return it so you can rent it for free.

HiluxSurf SSR-G has the right idea. Let the weight of the vehicle sit on the strut. If that does not give you enough thread than you have a problem that needs to be corrected or your parts are defective somehow

Best thing to do would be to remove strut and use a compressing tool to get more threads available.

Before taking the strut off, try this. Put the nut on without the washer and tighten it down snugly but don't totally crank on it. This will compress the rubber bushings a little so when you take the nut off, there's a good chance you'll now have threads showing above the washer so you can get the nut threaded on the shaft and you can tighten it all back up.

Let the vehicle sit over night, went out the next morning and things had settled enough to let me get the new bushing and washer on with just enough thread to start the bolt. Got it all assembled and torqued to spec. Thanks all for the input.
