F150 Auxiliary Tank Fuel Filler

So I have been searching and reading up to do this mod, have the brackets and will be ready to do this soon. I was wondering what everyone that has done this has used for the filler option. I will be using the tank as an Aux tank and will pump it to the main tank when needed. I would prefer to just use the main filler to fill both but dont want to spend a small fortune to find a FJ80 filler. I don't mind fabricating something but was mostly curious what everyone else had done. I saw Dirtco's setup but am not thrilled about putting a filler in the wheel well. Pictures would be awesome and encouraged.

Thanks in advance!

I haven’t commented because I don’t have any direct experience. But.....

I’ve seen or known of 4 setups.

Double doors and caps
Double caps in one door
Y fill pipe with valve (FJ)
Y pipe with no valve

I think the easiest is a y pipe with no valve. Just point the nozzle toward the tank you want to fill.

Next maybe build a new box inside the fuel door and have 2 caps and fill hoses.

The rigs I’ve had with duals were carbed with mech pumps on the engine, double doors, tank switch valve, and auxiliary gauge on dash.

I’ve got little idea how to deal with EFI, electric pumps in tanks, evap systems, ect...

I think you could run air bags to deal with the added weight.

Yeah, I have run into the same conclusions haha. I am just curious what other people have done that use it as an aux for a filler. There has to be someone out there that has done it.

At this point I am probably going to find a spare filler and modify it with the 2 tubes and you just pick which one to fill.

I run a completely separate fuel neck; I didn't like the idea of the Y filler neck because of the issues I read about the fuel not going into the selected tank 100% of the time, cost, and the unnecessary complexity of the system (imo). I have a separate fill point that I ran to my custom rear bumper. I used a fill neck from a diesel vehicle for the larger bore. I had to be careful that with such a low-mounted fill point, the angle of the fill tube allowed for proper tank filling.

F150 Auxiliary Tank Fuel Filler

So, I read this quickly at work, and didn’t really pay attention.

You can do a separate filler neck, a custom ‘y neck’, or, use a pump from factory tank to aux tank while filling up.
