It is, but a lot more work. Especially since you can sell your 5VZ to make up for the cost.

Supercharger is SO worth it though, especially with a few addons. I couldn't go back to NA in this thing.

FB is the scrounge of the earth, but if I could get a $500 SC there, well then I might just have to join that evil place.

There are scams on FB though, heads up. Only use reputable payment methods that allow you to reverse the transaction if the item is not delivered. Don't use "Family" transactions on Paypal either for the same reason since it's free and won't help you in a dispute if you select that option.

im thinking for dollars spent, per horsepower gained, would be far more effective to do a 2uz swap. Im struggling with that swap though because I know these 3rd gens are going to become classics and thats the one part of my truck that I have a hard time swapping out with something else.

3rd gens are a long time from becoming a classic, there's tons and tons of crappy 3rd gens running around California.

Give it 5 to ten years and they'll all be gone LOL. My take on it is the electric vehicle revolution will speed the process of many gas vehicles becoming highly desirable classics. Noones gonna want a 2020 4runner when toyota has something better in 2030 (for example) but people will be interested in the 3rd gens cause they're a true warrior, compact suv that can go anywhere. The rust belt is claiming victims every day due to rotten frames. However this is just my theory haha. Guy can dream!

Agree that they're a long way from being a classic. They do hold their value very well, but remember that they retailed for in the mid-$30k. That's a big gap to make up. And I don't know the stats on your vehicle, but IF that day does come, it will be on very low mileage examples. Far too many were made for premiums to be on anything else.

The biggest advantage of the SC is the simplicity of installation. The amount of hp gained for an hr of work is hard to beat.

This is also true, and it makes more sense. After all time is money so taking that into account the 2uz swap seems a heck of a lot less enticing. I have far too many other modifications to focus spending my money on before spending thousands to swap something else in

20 year old vehicles are considered classic right?

I think the 3rd gen, at least good not clapped out examples, are well on their way.

I think in most states, at least in Washington State, you can't get a classic license plate until 25 years from the model year. Here's to 4 more years for me!!

I just checked, it's 25 years for antique plates here too. That'll be pretty cool to have though LOL.

I was hunting around the other night and came across this. Never thought I'd see a $200K FJ, but here it is. If I had the money I'd have one of the supercharged ones.
