Where to find a used supercharger?
Anyone have any tips on where to look for used superchargers? I'm not going to spend more than I spent on my truck on a supercharger lmao. 3k isnt gonna cut it I'm thinking more like a 1000 to 1500 bucks is what I'd pay. Then I could buy a full rebuild kit and rebuild it myself so I know it's done right.

im always on the lookout but they are rare super cheap, maybe someday but i've decided to embrace the slow until that day comes.
Seems like the days of finding someone selling who "doesn't know what they have" are gone

On the day you find a Gen 2 SC for that price, I'd also buy a lottery ticket cuz lady luck is on your side and I'd strike while the iron is hot.
This might make your search easier
SearchTempest: Search all of Craigslist nationwide & more
Good luck,

I have a supercharger I would sell for $400, but it's pretty easy to make yourself. basically you get a length of vacuum hose and attach it to the airbox, then run the other end into the cabin through the sunroof and just blow into it really hard while driving. you'll need a 7th injector kit to keep up with the increased fuel demand but it's an easy 500+ whp

I just spent 24 minutes putting this together. This is crap and I want my money back.

@ VernySanders
i've been thinking of lurking around junk-yards for one myself. That'll probably be your best bet.
I also thought it wasn't as easy as just bolting on a SC? Needs way more. I could be wrong.

your 4runner engine probably isn't in good enough condition to handle the serious boost produced by this mod

I paid $2200 my second gen with about 4000 miles on it and paperwork from when the PO bought it new 8 months earlier. Dynamic tensioner, full kit and everything.
Found it one Facebook. The PO posted that he wanted to only sell it local and I lived about 20 miles away. He had it listed for $3k, told him I could get in the car with cash in about 45 minutes if he’d take $2k, he came back at $2200 if I was serious, so I went to get it.
It takes time to find a good, legit deal. I wouldn’t buy one sight unseen. Too many scammers out there. I looked for about a year before I found mine.

It's like the lottery. Found mine for $1200, went and got it right away. You can't even think about playing around or asking any question at all. You find a deal that good on something that desirable it's "where do you want me to meet you with cash in hand." Nothing else.
Oh, and around here your window of opportunity on Facebook marketplace is about 5-10 minutes after it gets listed, craigslist you have longer but it's rare to find anything there anymore.

You mean not everyone paid $500 for their 2nd gen SC?

Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market, search 96-02 Supercharger/Turbocharger and a few tend to pop up. Prices are not always listed so you have to call the salvage yard directly (you can haggle the price down sometimes too).

No this is a factory option its bolt on. There are additional things you can do to make your truck run optimally with the s/c however nothing is needed.

I'm starting to think that a v8 2uz-fe swap is cheaper than a S/C.
