Best stock alternator replacement option

Gents:

Bearings are going on my OEM alternator and the squeaking drives me nuts.

I'd like to replace it with an equal-to-factory quality option and I don't want to change it to the cs144 alternator (I have literally never once had a power problem and do not intend to add anything that would necessitate it in the future).

What options do I have here? I've had way too many issues with parts from any of the box stores (including NAPA) to buy a generic part. It would hurt to pay $400 for one from a dealer, however.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a quality reman OEM that is as reliable as this one was?

About 2 years ago when my original alt died of old age (310k miles), I bought an oem alt from a junk yard on ebay for $50 shipped. It had around 90k miles on it they claimed. When I received it I replaced the brushes and cleaned it up before installing it. The minimal wear on the slip rings was consistent with around 90k miles as advertised. Has worked perfectly since! You want to avoid rebuilt alts like the plague!

OEM all the way. My trucks got a crappy parts store reman on it now. I plan to find a stock low mileage alternator and re-brush it myself. Heck, I may even replace the bearings if I can find Koyo or Timken bearings for it. Otherwise, I will end up with a CS144 upgrade if I can't find a decent rebuildable OEM alt.

I had to put 2 Alts on my Land Cruiser, I really regret returning the core to Oreilly, I should have kept it and rebuilt it, because the Oreilly Ultima brand last almost exactly 1 year. The free replacement is still going after 2 years, but I don't trust it.

I'd pay $270 for a new one, but all the ones I'm seeing are over $400. Did I miss it somewhere?

And, is this a sufficient quality rebuild?

Vote here to rebuild yourself. Never charged better once done and had the confidence it wasn't going to leave me on the side of the road!

You are a saint, thank you!

I know I should rebuild it, but its one of those things where I have 4 motorcycles, two of which need total rebuilds, have to pull the motor on my boat, have to paint my 87 535is, and am looking to buy a house (to keep all the aforementioned trash lol) so if I can spend a little extra and save myself a weekend, at this point its looking like a better option.

mtbtm videos make it easy if you just need brushes..
bought a NEW CS144 alternator, but decided not to install and just did brushes on my stock one.
That one has gone another 20k with no issues. I also now have a spare Toyota denso that I got and one of these days I will rebuild that with bearings and brushes.
So I got a CS144 new alternator and adapter harness id sell...but only in Alaska...shipping to the lower 48 would be not worth it
