First post!

Well I'll try and keep it short and post some pix up shortly. I'm on my 7th 4runner and loving every minute of it. 4 1st gens, 1 2nd gen and now on my 2nd 3rd gen! I got on a landcruiser kick for several years and will probably move back to a 100 series again when I get bored with this one but actually sold a 2014 LX570 and bought this current T4R. It's a 2 owner 2000 limited 4x4 with 213k in really good shape with a stack of svc records. I'm a svc advisor at a GMC dealership so I looked over it really good before I bought it and the only thing I had to do to it was put a set of wiper blades on it, a new air filter and some hatch struts!

Anyway just seeking a little advice. The rear suspension crashes over bumps and is sagging pretty badly(shocker I know). My plan is about a 2.5 lift with 285's and a front ARB bumper with winch. Sliders soon to follow but probably no rear bumper for a while. I'm really seeking the best ride quality since there are a bunch of speed bumps in my neighberhood. It will get wheeled very little unfortunately with 3 younger kids but want it capable still.
I've read a lot of guys running the tundra front setup but it looks like it's gotten kind of pricey. I want to stay under $1k total so was looking at the OME setup. What says everyone for this type setup? Don't mind a firmer ride but can't stand the "crashing" for too much longer. Thanks!

Search on here, too much info on suspensions. You probably know all this already from the other Runners.

If you want the Smoothest ride you must go OEM (not OME) Toyota, I've not read of anyone coming up with a smoother ride than Toyota designed. All else is designed for heavier rear loads, added base weights from bumpers, winches, air pumps, ect. and of course for added suspension travel for the Serious off roaders.

Absalom pretty much sums it up here: Absalom's Cookie Cutter 4runner Builds - New and Updated!

Luck, enjoy the latest Runner and look forward to the next. : ^ )))

Crashing is just worn out springs or someone putting cheap springs in as replacements. My original springs were shot 4 years ago. So I bought A/M replacements.. [ majorly big mistake] as these particular springs are completely shot after 4 years. Granted high quality aftermarket springs are one thing. As many users have decent success with them. So after 2 years of driving with the driver side lean. Yes the springs were already fatigued in 2 years in. I just bought the highlander replacements for the rear axle. As not only am I tired of the leaning against my driver side door. I tired of having no rear suspension.

So stay away from the cheap A/M unless you want to have the mess I had.

My monroe shocks didn't make 2 years either and I switched them to billsteins back then.

Stay away from the quick struts too. I am glad I kept my originals for they dont last either.

Learn from my mistakes on cheap suspension replacements. As I know I never even bother with that junk again. ;)
