Coastal Offroad Closed Top Bumper

Hey guys, just curious what everyone's experience is with these bumpers. They seem like a well-priced option and look great imo. My biggest concern is approach angle, as they advertise it as sticking out only 4" from the grille. Any pics from the side?

3rd Gen 4Runner Closed Top Front Bumper Kit - Coastal Offroad

Edit: How does this approach angle compare to Addicted Offroad Tube? That is the other option I'm considering.

If you're worried about approach angle the make one with more clearance. Sticks out 2.5" from grille. 3rd Gen 4Runner High Clearance Front Bumper Kit - Coastal Offroad

Open top bumpers will typically have better approach angle. I also prefer them because accessing winch controls in a closed top bumper is not fun especially if your truck is buried.

so what is the negative trade off for going with this bumper?

i believe i made a thread on their section on this forum and asked this very question and never got a response.

The high clearance bumper your winch is up higher so it puts more leverage stress on the bumper and mounts. You will also need to trim your grille for the winch with the high clearance bumper.

thank you. wouldnt a properly designed bumper have the higher leverage point for the winch in mind? like create an additional brace or something to help it?

i dont have a bumper, nor do i have one i can just look at. sorry if thats a dumb question. i have never looked at bumpers like this upfront and close.

Extra bracing in the bumper will only help the bumper side of things. Both versions of that bumper use the same mounting holes to the frame so the high clearance will put more force on the same mounting points in comparison to the other one. It wouldn't bother me but for some people it makes them uneasy about it. The extra leverage is the reason some companies don't make a body lift version of their bumpers like Addicted Offroad plate bumper for our vehicles.

That tube bumper they make sure looks good. That's what I am planning on getting for my rig. They have a tube front, rear and slider package for a little discount if you buy all three at once.

I looked at the open top, but not a fan of cutting grille to mount a winch or the look imo. Anyone have side/top down pics of addicted or closed top?
