yep another 99 Talls question
do all 99s have tall coils? thought id read somewhere here that it depended on your manufacturing date?
ive searched and cant find anywhere.
I have a 99 SR5 date of manufacturing 12/98...do I have talls?
salt belt...no color codes left.

I'm still finding lots in the junk yards. I am basing this off color code, not vehicle specs. I have had 2 sets myself (kept 1) and the last 3 junkyards I have been to each had a set. Pair them up with OME2906s and good to go.

Well I was at the point that my A/m springs were done. So if an inch shorter will be better then the 2.5 inch difference in my rear bumper from drivers side to passenger side.

This is wrong. All '99 4WD with 16-inch wheels from the factory got the tall springs, including my non-Highlander SR5. Just check the colors.
Front Right Springs - Blue / Yellow (48131-35400)
Front Left Springs - Blue / Pink (48131 - 35350)
Both Rear Springs - Yellow / Red (48231 - 35210)
The color on the rear is sort of a sick greenish yellow, not a blazing lemon yellow.
That said, as someone who ran the '99s for 18 years, use OME 906s in back and the '99 Talls in front.
EDIT: I just saw where you (OP) can't see the colors. NJ is as salt happy as they come and I could see mine just fine. Maybe the PO painted the springs. Mine was built toward the end (03/99). I'm pretty sure if you have the locker and 4WD you got the Talls. The 15-inch springs were pretty short, you should be able to just look at it. Post a pic....

I can also confirm that my parts truck, a 99 SR5 4WD w/16" wheels (non highlander) had the tall springs, verified by paint markings.
I'm also running 906's in the rear with 99 talls in the front, nice combo.

My 4x4, v6, auto, SR5, 99, 16” wheels rig has the talls from the factory per stance and color codes.
The back sags just like all the others if you put a box of doughnuts behind the seat. The rig sits about 21” rather than 20” like other years. Ride is nice even at 330k. But I put KYB’s on it some odd years back and firestone air bags in the rear.
