I had several. They were super easy to work on and easy to maintain. Just didn't have much power. Especially if they were 4wd. The 2wd did fine as they were quite a bit lighter. I had both 2 and 4wd. Standard and extra cabs. Along with standard and long beds. All of mine were manuals.

I rarely had any issues with them except for 2 of them. One was my fault for using a non OEM timing chain tensioner.

The other one jump time by one tooth. Bent a few valves. So I replaced the bent valves, chain and sprockets while I was in there. Those early 80s had adjustable valve lash on them and were super easy to adjust with a wrench, slotted screw driver and feeler gauges.
