Part numbers for a Thermoplastic CV Joint Boot Kit?

Hi guys,

My 4Runner is lifted by ~3" and I'm really sick of having to re-boot my CV's every 1-2 years. I've tried a bunch of brands and they are all made of neoprene which just isn't as good as the OEM thermoplastic. I haven't been able to find a CV boot kit that uses thermoplastic. There is an OEM boot kit (04438-35060) but that doesn't appear to be in production anymore and it's pretty expensive.

Can you guys suggest some more durable CV boot kit part numbers I can look at? I'm located in Canada.

Thanks!

Thanks. It looks like the old 04438-35060 was superseded by 04438-35061. Unfortunately all those sites seem to be serviced by the same supplier because it's $300 CAD to get two boot kits

These are what you want.

High Angle Inner CV Boot - Products - Off Road Solutions

Yesterday though boot of the boots popped off on me while offroading and trashing my axles. At this point I can't recommend anyone to use the stock clamps, order some clamps from mcmaster and clamp that thing on solid. Its better that you rip the boot slightly rather than have it fall off.

Have you priced it a Amayama or Partsouq? Lightweight items like these are usually shipped at reasonable rates, at least to California.

Unfortunately even my usual Amayama is too expensive. $150 per axle, not including shipping :O

I was browsing the Rockford CV catalog and I think the 335-10A (for a 1995 Jetta) should fit on the outer joint. The less ribs should also help with the rubbing.
http://www.rockfordcv.com/pdfstore/Boot_Assemblies.PDF

The dimensions I measured on my spare OEM CV axle are:
Inner shaft OD: 1.27"
Outer CV housing OD: 3.67"
CV boot height when installed: 4.25"
Number of ribs: 6

Assuming the dimensions of this alternative are correct, RockAuto even has some relatively inexpensive boots for a 1995 VW Jetta that are made of thermoplastic.

The inner CV boot I will just continue to use the neoprene ones but with a boot stretch mod.

Yes I did. I'm running the Rockford 335-10A as the outer boot and it's working great so far. Definitely a much higher quality boot than anything from those reboot kits. Only disadvantage is that the pleats are larger so there is some small rubbing on the LCA rivet under full droop. Unless you're doing crazy flexing offroading this should mostly not be a problem.

Unfortunately I couldn't find a cost effective inner CV made from thermoplastic so I'm sticking with a standard neoprene boot. I did install a differential drop which has greatly helped with the angles so we'll see how this holds up.
