I just replaced my regulator, motor, wiper motor, license plate bezel, and license plate lamps this past weekend. It's not hard to do the regulator.

Lower the window a few inches
Disconnect rear defogger on the side through the small access hole and connections on regulator/motor
Unbolt the window (3 per side) Window will not fall out, it's hard to get that thing out and back in again.
Unbolt the regulator and slide it out.

If you have the extra set of hands to unbolt the hatch and lay it facedown on a surface to work on it makes it much easier than holding it over your head. But yes, the process is fairly easy for just about everything inside the hatch.
