Radiator : Opinions needed

Hi all. Original owner of a 2002 Toyota 4Runner Limited. She's running on her original radiator which has developed a slow leak. The dealership is quoted me $463 for an oem radiator, so I decided to pick up a Denso radiator off Amazon

The first radiator came shipped to me within a couple of days and had two holes punched through the box. Unfortunately the radiator was compromised so I sent it back. I had them shipped me a second to radiator this one wasn't packed as well however the Box looked to be in very good condition. However as I inspected the radiator I can tell that it was dropped on its side at one point and appears to be bent a little bit.

Luckily I am not in urgent need of a radiator, however I'm trying to decide if this is going to work for me or if I should send it back. Thoughts?

Sometimes they get damaged in shipping. You better off to have a great shape radiator then one that's damaged in anyway. For whatever reason the picture isnt showing on tap talk.

I just recently ordered the same Denso from Rock Auto. It was well packed arrived without damage via FedEx. Although the shipping was $30 the price + shipping was within a few bucks of Amazon Prime.

I just helped a buddy with a 2002 QX4 replace his radiator and he went with a Denso from Rock Auto too, no damage on his either... seems like they take a little more care with packing their radiators

Thanks, I'll have to take a look. Amazon makes it convenient but I'm batting 0 for 2 so far

The first was actually wrapped in bubble wrap with foam in the corners. It likely would have been good had it not been for the two holes punched through the side.

My rock auto Denso came in Damaged. So I say it's really the luck of the draw.

How many miles on it?
And also for the 2002 3.4 any options for the radiator, or is it one and done when ordering?

1 have 140k on my original radiator as well. Thought about just doing an external transmission cooler but it gets too cold here so I’m opting for a denso. I don’t have any problems with my rad but it is 20 years old. To OP, I wouldn’t put it on your 4runner. Wait till you get one that is in perfect shape

I had one arrive damaged from Rock Auto. The plastic overflow nipple was broken off. I sent it back, and they send me a new one. The second one was in perfect condition.

I can’t see the pic either, but I would probably hold out for a pristine one.

Those do look very nice. Too bad we can't MFG things in the US and remain cost-effective.

I dont think I paid much more than an OEM honestly and it's worth it because it's all aluminum so if you have an auto trans your cooler will never give way
