Any GL-5 fluid is, by default, packed with anti-wear additives. The GL rating pretty much designates how much additive is necessary.

You have a manual engaged transfer case then you use the manufacturers spec.
I also have a GM 4WD auto / 4wd hi/lo truck push button on dash.
the actuator is not mounted in the transfer case mounted on the exterior of it .. so no electrical components in the case. I must use TRAC II in this transfer case because it has a specific lubricants that stop the clunking .
I check it every oil change and if it looks blue its good if it looks a grayish color I change it. 30K on it it began clunking then changed the fluid no clunk.. shifts much faster in/out of 4WD ..
Toyota transfer case on my 2016 runner is electrical actuators in it .. so fluid has in it a large amount of friction reducing additives which reduces wear and faster engagement ..
GL5 is very cheap compared to this toyota special transfer case lube.
I do not want to pay for replacing the transfer case ..
