LBJs arrived in damaged box

Hey guys, I just got some Lower Ball Joints for my '01 from OEM Parts Source and one of them was hanging out of a damaged box. All the parts were there and they seem fine with no real scratches or damage. They box they came in was pretty small for the parts and it had minimal padding.
What's your opinion - go ahead and use them or have them take them back?

In these cases, this ticks me off more then it actually causes damage to the item. Aren't they smart enough to know how to pack heavy items? Is this their first LBJ sale?

With that said, these are pretty beefy so if a visual inspection shows no problems then me thinks you are good.

I would contact them and send them the pic and ask what they suggest. Cannot hurt and they might send replacements or give you a few bucks off your next piss-poor packaged order.

Good luck,

Eddie

I did reach out and they said they were sorry the postal carry was so careless with the package. I told them they packed it poorly and the box was pretty flimsey. I'll try to get something out of them but I feel they aren't going to pony up anything. There was a small rip in the bag and a very small scuff but nothing looks damaged. I just wanted some peace of mind before I put them on.

Next time I'll be going with Camelback for parts.

This is why if i want a toyo oem part, i go to a toyo dealership.

I doubt the part is even toyo legit, how could it be in that packaging.

good luck on it lasting....

OEM ball joint is in a sealed plastic bag. Is that box is from the shipper or the factory toyota box?

Ya, I hate when the business don't think when shipping out their items.
Looks to be the business chose that flimsy box to ship some heavy lbjs.

I ordered a toyota oem radiator. The denso radiator was boxed, and that box got packed in another box for shipping. The packing was only a sheet of 20"x15" piece of small bubble wrap.

It's in a sealed bag with all the official Toyota stickers on the outside. Just not in a Toyota box.
I had heard good things about these guys so maybe it's just a crappy shipping job.

There is no Toyota box. Agreed their packaging sucks. That said, it is a ball joint and will see a lot more stress than a lazy UPS man. As long as the boot isn't damaged you are A ok.

Lots of my parts coming from my local dealer are sealed in bags just like that. Not uncommon at all. Probably just a crappy shipping job like others suggested.

If no damage to the threads or boot you should be good to go.

Agreed. LBJ's are extremely stout and a little bumping around in a delivery van will not ruin them. But if the grease boot is damage or ripped, that grease is going to run out in a hurry. Also check the threads on the ball joint, if those are damaged you won't get the nut on correctly or it may cross-thread.

If those check out they are fine.
