Maybe I was just North of Menifee heading to Temecula about 3 pm. I am in a 2001 Sport Silver pretty stock.

My 2001 T4R highway mileage goes up to 23 or 24 MPG if I keep it to about 65 MPH. This has been confirmed on several long road trips. (Cleaning the MAF may have helped too, but wind resistance/drag is exponential at higher speeds, not linear.)

Ah, that wouldn't have been me that day. Although I'm out there a lot on service calls the only part of the 215 I hit that day was between the 10 and 60.

I’ll do 75 to 80 on highways, but slower than speed limit in residential neighborhoods.

Interesting. The speed limiter on most Japanese vehicles is 112mph/180kph as that is the required limiter on vehicles on public roads in Japan.

I'm in no hurry.

Out in here in Aus i'll cruise at 100kph/62MPH on the freeway but it will comfortably rock along at 130kph / 80-85MPH if needs be. Ive got a handful of a MK2/89 Golf GTi (details in sig) to go fast. The 4R is to roll around in and take off-road tbh. They're not designed to be rocketships!

Well if it was a Black '02 then it was most probably me. Most days I set my cruise to 65 buy other days my lead foot wants to take over. Even if I am cruising at 80 people pass me like crazy

Here in Ohio I tend to set the cruise somewhere around 71 MPH while on the interstate. I take at least two trips out west each year and what I set my cruise at just depends on how I'm feeling: anywhere between 70 MPH and 80 MPH and that's dependent upon speed limit, traffic, time of day, fuel prices, etc. I'd say I average 73 MPH on the cross-country driving.

At 70 MPH I can easily get 21 MPG in good weather (sometimes upward of 23). At 80 MPH I can barely squeak out 15 MPG.

speed limitish in town, 70 is usually my highway max because anything faster is north of 3k rpms in 5th and i dont love that for extended periods. Most of the time 65 is a better highway cruising speed. As stated above, im in no hurry and when i am its in one of the other cars.
