No wonder I never have any clearance issues others talk about. I never actually looked at any install directions. Just trimmed them and welded them up. Incorrectly I guess. lol
After wheeling on them like that pretty hard I'll probably weld my next set up incorrectly as well. I don't think it compromises the strength. The way I have them gives me zero clearance issues and I can replace the SPC slug pretty easily.
Thoughts? Other then I'm an idiot?

Hey man, at least it’s functional! I wouldn’t beat yourself up too much...I have a number of “mods”’that work but aren’t really what was intended...part of the fun 😜

I'm not. I'm laughing pretty good right now. None of my wheeling buddies caught it. Given that I solved all clearance issues it might be the new standard. lol

Hahah.. Now you guys are making me nervous on how mine are welded on. But hey, the other way offers the benefit of being able to get to the knuckle slug a good bit easier. How common is it to have to replace those? I see that being a real ***** the next go around. LOL.

Nothing wrong with it, looks like an improvement to me, with my experience changing the slug. I have another off-road vehicle with a set of (cough) radius arms, installed opposite and upside down for better up travel. Its been that way for years.

Looks to me like it somewhat defeats the purpose.
The gusset looks to be designed to provide good support to the upper ball joint flange(my word) and support to the shaft.
Mounted as designed they catch the ball joint flange on the far end (point of most support) and one side (lesser support). They also support the shaft.
As pictured there is only support on one side of the upper flange (lesser support) and then support for the shaft. You’ve also moved the corner of the gusset (strong part) away from the outer edge of the ball joint flange where it was intended to provide support.
Just my opinion......

Midcoma, Sorry to resurface this thread, but had a question for you. I've got the StopTech/Centric 950.44014 Taco lines ready to install.
I'm running 199mm TBU
I've read in some places that the Centric banjo bolt it a hair too long and you should double crush-washer it with a crush washer on each side of the banjo.
Did you find that to be true for you?
Thanks!

I’m running the 231mm TBU, and it’s been a while since I installed these brake lines, but I don’t remember the banjo bolt being an issue.
Either way, I’d recommend buying shorter banjo bolts instead of doubling the crush washers.

Try threading the banjo bolt into the caliper without the brake line to confirm if it will bottom out or not.
Mine were slightly too long. It's not the threads of the bolt that are too long though, the inside diameter is what will interfere.
It's an easy fix. All you have to do is slightly drill out the end of the banjo bolt to provide a little relief. Then recheck the bolt in the caliper, and you'll be good to go.
