3rd gen 4runner is a good Toilet Paper Apocalypse rig.
During these weird times where everything is being shut down, having a super reliable rig that I can service myself is nice. I have 3 in the driveway with a good supply stash of parts. I figure my transportation is good for decades. Although all my local grocery stores are wiped out of important stuff.
This whole thing is blown out of perspective with hoarding stupid items. On the bright side, gas is real cheap, we crossed below $2 here.

I think the 1 hitch in the gidyup is the small tank size. You won’t get to far on a single tank. 450 to 500 mile range like a diesel would be nice.

With all the things on god’s green earth, why the freaking toilet paper?
To the OP, I’m in the same boat. Three third gen in the driveway. Loved these third gen 4runner.

I just bought my first 4runner. I think it should be a decent zombie smashing unit if it comes to that. Looking to post my own thread with pics but trying to boost my post count first lol
I will leave with this bit of logic:
It seems really strange to frantically stockpile toilet paper. I mean, food and water are understandable I guess-you need to eat and drink. If you run out of tp just take a shower, use the bath matt, your hand, etc.

Agree; I detest the panic buyers and hoarders, who, in my neighborhood are the folks wearing surgical masks to walk their dogs and visit the grocery store.

I just don’t understand all this panic for the life of me. 2009 swine flu pandemic infected 61 million Americans and killed over 12k Americans and 600k worldwide. I don’t remember closing everything down over that and being blasted my the media every second spreading fear of hoarding toilet paper! Coronavirus killed 100 people average age 80 and most had health issues. The panic and mayhem is scarier than the virus itself.

I could express my theories on this entire virus thing. However, at this time I will not.
Panicking is never a good thing. What folks need to do is remain calm. Keep some distance between people and keep washing your hands.
I am thinking that this is going to give me more time in my schedule so I can work on my rigs and spend some much needed garage therapy. :]

Same. Already tackling projects and repairs I've been procrastinating on doing.

My wife asked what vehicle we are taking if we need to get out of dodge: My answer was both 4Runners and the Scamp trailer behind the 2007. This way if one poops the bed the other is still (hopefully) viable.
Oh, and I'm definitely tuning my Stihl chainsaw in the next few days just so it's ready.

I agree and I do think there's way to much panic going on. Cautious is okay, panic is not.
