No doubt it's a matter of what you need. In my experience, PartSouq is no cheaper than other places for the "mechanical" parts like you mentioned above.
But they are killer for electrical, interior, and body components. Examples of some parts I bought recently:
75659-35040-B2 Flare pad: PartSouq $5.52, McGeorge $9.40
9098205040 Battery Terminal: PartSouq $12.83, McGeorge $21.24
1577862030 Oil Cooler Hose: PartSouq $18.47, McGeorge $25.90
I agree that it makes no sense to buy a small part from there, as the shipping will be more (typically $15-20 vs $10). But I recently replaced all the evap hoses on another Toyota, it cost me about $180 from PartSouq, and would have been over $300 from McGeorge.
But like you said, it pays to shop around for your specific items.
One thing I will say (as a caveat) is that McGeorge has the best customer service. I once needed to change an order after placing it, and I had no trouble calling them and working it all out. In contrast, I once placed an order with PartSouq for a number of items (combined primarily to justify the shipping costs) - well they did not send me the primary item I wanted, but sent all the rest. I emailed them telling them that I should have been notified that the primary item was not available so I would have had the option to cancel the whole order, but I got nowhere. I once had a similar experience with Toyota Parts Deal, a place that I will never deal with again.
