L-Track Cargo Tie downs Storage Solution

The lack of tie downs in the 3rd gen cargo area was a problem for me. I carry a cradle-mount winch, a spare, C02, tools, cooler and on and on. I was sick of it shifting around and plus it's safer to have it all tied down.

So, after analyzing this a bit here is what I came up with for under $100, using the existing bolt mounts for the cargo cover (which I never used), and with little work and time invested!

I'm surprised at how stout it is after putting those bolts through to secure the plastic molding! No problem pulling on this with moderate tie-downs! Plus, I have a piece of wood that also sits well on this if I want a shelf of sorts.

Here's what you need:

Very nice, I need something like this. I might have to look into this. Does this involve cutting anything, or can you take it out and return it back to stock?

No cutting of the existing plastic at all and yep, the plastic pieces that cover the holes (the cargo cover holders) can go right back into place no problem. The only thing is that I did drill that hole and put in a bolt to hold the plastic better than the push tab things. By doing that it REALLY firmed up the whole setup really well.

I also put in those big loop tie-down things but you wouldn't need to do that. I did that to secure my shelf that I put in sometimes. I'll have to post a pic of that later.

Man is it nice to have some decent things to tie off to!

It can handle a lot of pull so smaller gauge ratchet straps although I just like / want to use a variety of pull straps and bungees for most of my gear. Also, a net would work well too.

It's perfect for these kinds of tie downs: Amazon.com: Highland (9210600) 6' Blue Cambuckle Tie Down with Hooks - 4 piece: Automotive

Here are some more pics of the shelf and the C02 holder setup I came up with. It is all extremely stout and the shelf goes in and out in literally one minute! My quarantine project...

L Track is the same as S-Track.
price has gone up but i have used a kit similar to this in my 81 Trekker and my 94. It is a decent deal for the tie downs and track
