So interesting, a lot of answers I didn't expect to see.
Quick note! For those who haven't received the check yet, hit up the IRS site and pop your back account info in. Even though they had my bank stuff from my taxes, they didn't have it as of yesterday... So be sure to check it

Not old person thinking. I'm also doing the same thing, put it towards some 3x leveraged ETF's that I think are set for some good returns.
Now in a year's time when it's no longer short-term gains... we'll see where we are at. Definitely will be donating some of it, I work for a non-profit and many are getting hammered. Donations are really down so far this year with all in-person fundraising events cancelled.

Putting it into savings until this stuff is passed. Then it is going to pay down some debt.
Disclaimer - before all this stuff started I used my work bonus to order a Prinsu rack and custom valved Kings from Filthy Motorsports. The only thing I am doing to my 4Runner now is vehicle maintenance for a while. Yesterday I got ship notice on all the seals/gaskets/bearings to redo the rear axle shafts.

I'm 'essential' and work is definitely booming right now, but keeping the check just in case for the time being.
Then investing in kitchen remodel to raise our house value so we can sell for more of a profit in the next couple years.

The money is supposed to help out for those who lost there jobs. I have been working so I'm lucky.
I was thinking of buying a fridge for the jeep/4runner but rethinking that purchase in favor of buying something american made. Not sure yet. Stocks do sound good but I've already been buying the crap out of them. Found money is or should be used for fun when everything else is taken care of.

TBD, but likely stonks and maybe a tax stamp.

My wife and I haven't gotten ours yet either but I've heard stories of it being because we went through a company do do taxes (HRBlock).
IF/when we get it it's going to get squirreled away into savings.
I lost my job almost 1.5 months ago due to COVID-19 and so far Washington Unemployment has not sent me my UE payment. With all this free time I WISHED I could put a body lift on the 4th Gen and do the timing belt (and all associated stuff) on the 3rd gen, but that'll have to wait.
Blegh. Annoying. The only good Corona is a cold one with a wedge of Lime IMHO (That too will have to wait until I can afford it)

Double check that IRS has your direct deposit info.

That ship sailed 7 years ago, came back into port, and then set sail again 3 years ago. That's how I bought my 4Runner in the first place.

Nicely done. My experience was similar. I try and advise people away from Bitcoin nowadays since they aren't aware that it went "mainstream" 3 years ago and can't expect those almost incomprehensible gains we had in the past. Glad you are not uninformed.
