Your locking and unlocking from passenger and driver door is most likely just a worn out key. These locks have half tumblers or pins (?).

Take your title or registration to a Toyota dealership and have them cut you a couple keys.
Then dry lube the door locks and try the new keys.

I keep laughing at the thought that your key will only physically turn the door locks one direction and that the PO purposefully made it that way. LOL!!

Thanks for letting me know. As of last night I have all the parts I need for the swap, but it's nice to know that its there if I need it. They just opened a new Pick n Pull in American Canyon (I'm in Napa) so I can't wait for one to pop up there.

They are unique for sure. The PO was actually a friend of my uncle's who definitely knew how he liked his stuff.

Worth a try, I guess, but I'm pretty sure its more than that, the key I have looks pretty new. Plus, I was told that it was something he did on purpose.

You could have a brand new key, but if it’s just a copy of a worn out key it don’t help.

Do your locks only turn one direction, or do they actually turn both directions but the electrical doesn’t work?

Passenger side CW= lock CCW= unlock
Driver side CW= unlock CCW= lock

What you seem to describe is a worn out key that only turns the door locks CW cause the edge of the key is worn.

That's a good point. I will have a new key cut when I go to the dealer for my fob

Only sometimes. Most of the time I'm glad it's powered now.
I have a 2009 Tundra with manual windows and locks and it throws people off all the time. I love it.
