0-2.5" rear shocks with 3" lifting coils ok?
I'm thinking of getting the Bilstein 5160 rear shocks and specs say it can be used for 0-2.5" applications. Can I pair these with the Toytec 3" rear lift coils?

Those are for 2" max lift. They have the same (errr, close enough) compressed and extended lengths as the 5160's.

Some companies like Wheeler's offer 5100s for 1.5-3" rear lift, 13.84" x 22.44".

You could probably get away with it but may increase wear/tear and not get the full benefit of those shocks. You'll likely run into less issues and get a better functioning suspension if you get an appropriate length shock.

Those are not 4Runner shocks, I believe they are the Tundra application with different lower bushings to fit the 4Runner - and the likely need bump stop extensions to keep from damaging the shocks. Still an option, you just want to know what you are getting.

Nope, this 5100 Rear Shock Set for 1996-2002 4Runner (1.5"-3" Lift) 5100 is good for 3”.

The 1.5-3" rear shocks Wheeler's offers for 3rd gens is most likely a tundra shock, bil 24-100144 (13.84" x 22.44), with new bushings. My point was there are companies that sell 5100s for a 3" rear lift & already have the bushings set up to directly bolt on to 3rd gens. Similar to Sonoran Steel offering 4th/5th gen 4runner shocks, bil 33-187174 (14.91-23.5), with 3rd gen bushings & ready to bolt on.

In case you were still looking, I just put 4th gen 4Runner 5160's on because the long travel 3rd gen 5100's are actually 4th gen standard travel shocks!
33-187174 (5100 3rd gen "long travel"/4th gen standard travel):
Collapsed Length (IN): 14.91
Extended Length (IN): 23.5
25-227611 (5160 4th gen 4Runner)
Collapsed Length (IN) 14.83
Extended Length (IN) 23.5
I had standard length 3rd gen 5100's in before and after putting in 210v springs (~4" lift with approx. 350 extra lbs. full-time up top and in back) the valving felt kind of soft. The 5160's (for the few miles on them now) are much better suited for the higher stance, as they make the truck feel more planted while eating up the bumps better than before.
