The HugeFatChick build, 97 limited undergoing 5speed swap

Well I’m prolly going to be a little slow on the build but so far I have gathered all the interior pieces, transmission, drivelines and tranny mount, 231mm tundra breaks, and manual hubs. As the money flow starts I will be posting more, here’s what I have so far: 97 limited elocker rear 4:30 gears, jdm 5vz @303k miles.

Nice! You'll have fun with the 5-speed swap.

Yeah I’m planning on bypassing the neutral safety switch until I find a 97 mt engine harness and ecu to do it proper

Good call, I did the same thing. The constant check engine light got old real fast for my OCD so I only ran my 4Runner like that for about a week.

Yes, not sure if you can see my sig, but the link is there. My 5-speed swap starts here: Jake's '99 Limited "Build" Thread - Post #62

I did not document everything or provide step-by-step instructions, there's plenty of information out there on how to do the swap. If you have any questions I'd be happy to answer.

Since you have a 97 this thread might help you

koltlt 97 sr5 build thread

He has the pin charts on there that you can use for either repinning your auto harness or just for the dash plug if you use a manual harness

you'll see on my build thread I had a heck of a time finding where the two last wires in the dash harness plug were supposed to go to, but I finally found that they go to the little grey plug that's next to the ecu, I have pictures of it if you need them. that was probably the hardest problem I encountered in my swap

before getting the wiring harness I just took the neutral safety switch off the auto trans and plugged it into the harness with it turned to the park position, that allowed me to at least test drive it

That’s how I plan on rolling till I find a 97 ecu, my buddy has a 98 ecu and engine harness for me but from what I understand there’s differences

Well I got my clutch today, looks decent kinda skeptical about a amazon clutch but they claim it’s a stage 2, as far as price goes it was half of what the price was for a stock clutch at oreillys. Does anybody have experience with a amazon clutch?
