OEM lower control arm bushings

Been collecting front end parts for a complete rebuild, a year ago I purchased LCA bushings p/n 48061-35040 4ea. I pressed them in last week but looking on Camelback parts factory site it looks like they have 2 different p/n for front of and rear of the LCA bushings, I could of sworn when I purchased mine they were both the same p/n.
Any one have any info on this, am I going to have to order and rework my work?

Thanks,

They are different.
48061-35050 rear bushing for front lower control arms
48061-35040 front bushing for front lower control arms
Double check...these are what I installed in the '96

Yea I noticed the p/n difference, and those are the same 2 p/n’s for the 99.
If I still have the old ones laying around maybe measure them & see if there is a difference or just order 2 of the correct bushings and rework?
I would hate to have to pull it all back apart again once installed back in the truck.

the Old ones look to measure the same, searched a couple old threads mixed answers, some say the same others say different, searching for aftermarket, rock auto and others they are using the same bushing both front and rear on the LCA
I sent an email to Toyota see what they say,
Any body know the p/n for the 4 bolts mounting the LBJ?

Thanks,

Like @habanero said already, they are definitely different on each arm. I helped @JZiggy with replacing his OEM bushings and we paid attention to how they were installed from the factory and replicated that when installing the new ones. If you look closely at the OEM bushings when you get them, you will notice the subtle difference between the two bushings.

As for how to replace them, @infamounsRNR and I have two videos that will help out those that find this thread. We don't replace them with OEM bushings though. We used Whiteline poly bushings. But, the techniques used to remove and install the OEM bushings would be the same.

Thanks @mtbtim , I could remember their being a little different, but couldn't remember how they were different from that long ago.

I guess the big question here is can the front bushings also work as rear bushings and if no, why not.

@Poorboy64 there are two different part numbers for those lower ball joint bolts, depending on year. The same is also apparently true for the torque specs.
This site is fun: Spare parts for VZN185L frame Toyota 4Runner - Auto parts
Front axle arm & steering knuckle for Toyota 4Runner VZN185L - Genuine parts
Of course it's up to you to make sure you get the right ones, well, eight.

Guess I should just get 2 of the correct bushings, I have a set of extra upper and lower control arms and have the bushings already installed trying to make it a quick R&R just have to press out and in the 2 on the LCA with the correct,
The job hasn’t been to bad no rust underneath pretty clean.

Jordan (@JZiggy) and I never found a reason why Toyota uses two different bushings on each control arm as far as I remember and we also didn't figure if the two bushing positions could be swapped. The Toyota engineers had to have some reason for this but who knows what that reason is. We just made sure we paid attention to which bushing was used on the front and rear of the arm and also made sure we matched the orientation of how they were pressed into arm.

What I do know is when you buy aftermarket bushings like Whiteline makes, both the bushings are identical.

Go back to Camelback’s website and input your VIN and search for the bushings. It should give you the correct part numbers.

Yea that is where I noticed the difference in the p/n for the bushings looking for the BJ bolts
No big deal to replace the bushings now while the LCA is out of the truck but will wait till I hear back from Camelback,
Thanks for the info on the BJ bolt p/n

It’s funny the parts breakdown habanero linked even shows a different number for left and right bushing, 4 total different # for each bushing on the LCA’s?

No, as best as I can see it's just showing the same part numbers that you already know. In the box right below the red print that says "Front Axle Arm......."

If you click on the other Bush, front lower arm, No.1... it's the same, but listed in opposite order.

I like this site for finding part numbers for all sorts of odds, ends, and even normal stuff.

Getting mine replaced (I tried myself and failed) eliminated tire noise and Kendra noticed the odd vibration driving down the road was gone also.

The job is not bad, but I have no rust or corrosion it’s a west coast truck,
Just trying to go OEM and the p/n are frustrating, for instance the ball joint bolts 2 different #’s Getting it all figured out but takes some time,
Truck has 200k and want to do it completely and correct one last time,
Hoping this will be the last vehicle I own😊
