Manual seat conversion?

Howdy all,

Some of you will be with me on this and some of you will think I'm crazy, but I want to swap my electric seats for manual ones. I would like to prevent the inevitable dead motor, and I don't like waiting for it to go forward and back. Have any of you done this? Is there any way to do this while keeping the same seat without heavy modification? If not, do you know any other seats I could use? Tacoma? Earlier gen runner?

Any advice or thoughts would be appreciated

I've had both, and prefer manual. Manual is available in leather or cloth.

I can see folks wanting to do that. Most of my fleet are manual seats. I do have a few that are electrical. As with manuals less things to fail plus lots of times the Toyota electrical seats are so slow to move. Really sucks in a rain storm on my wives sienna van as she is 5 2 and I am 6 3. :-)

I took some manual cloth seats out of base model 4runner at the junkyard. One of the best mods i've done!

Prefer manual also, including windows, and climate controls...

Might not appeal to you, but aftermkt seats are the route I took.

Shed 22 pounds also. After selling my factory seats, these cost like 300 to 350 bucks...

@TonyB66 Those look really nice. What brand, how was getting them mounted, lots of fab work or did they have a rail kit?

Corbeau Moab seats with their 3rd gen 4Runner base/track. No fab work per se. The brackets for the seatbelt receptacles were pushing up against the center console though, so I bent them outward a bit... They otherwise drop-in and bolt-up.

I've made use of the space under the seats too, another added plus...

Driver:

That's a mobile ham radio and switch box.

Suspended is a handheld ham radio (charging) and pocket knife.

Passenger:

That's a 300w pure sine wave inverter, another knife...

Nice, is that the Tan or Spice color? Did you do any of the lumbar supports? How about seat height with the base/track? About the same?

Trying to prep for a long Baja trip (Baja XL, ~4000 miles in 10 days, not including transit to/from Seattle). Actually more worried about passenger comfort, you know happy wife, happy life...

Searched my thread:

Front seats (Corbeau Moab, Spice, about 39 lbs per seat, compared to 50 lbs for stock)

As a caveat, I'm a pretty thin guy around at 145 lbs. And as far as the wife goes, I think we had two Tahoe trips (approx 4 hours each way) since the install. No complaints, FWIW.

As far as lumbar is concerned, I added such support. Don't have time to find a photo in my 4Runner, but this...
