From post thread :

Spark Plugs Wires and Coil Information for the 5VZ-FE

The fakes are getting insane. :-(

I even have a link to a video showing users how close these plugs are:

Eww. For an emergency only maybe. Expect to have to redo the job in a year with their Chinese brand parts. OEM only, especially for critical mechanical components!

Yup, that's my rule of thumb. If it's a critical part (I ask myself: Will I be stranded or severely inconvenienced if it fails?) I go OEM from an online Toyota dealership like McGeorge Toyota or Toyota of Dallas with ok pricing. If it's non-critical like a metal bracket, trim piece, etc. I go aftermarket.

Denso and NGK are the OEM suppliers to Toyota. So as long as you get from reliable sources. You wont have a problem. I mostly pull the plugs from the dealership myself.

You do know you can get NGK parts at your local auto parts store, right? It isn't *all* crap - you just have to ask for the right stuff.

The Chinese mafia have there home ports, seas, and docks under control in some areas. They high jack the trucks or containers take real parts out, slip fakes in. Then take real ones resell them as legit items.

They cut the shipments with fakes that look, smell, feel real, until they fail.

Some groups are so good at it that the real manufactures can't even detect the fake products. With out destructive testing to get metal structure or hardness samples.

we always used good world known brand of needle bearings in our race engines, never had failures until 10 years ago. all of a sudden we started throwing rods out the engines from bearing failure.

We ask the company if something changed in their bearings. They told us about the fakes getting swapped out at sea or on foreign docks with fakes.

They said they have recently found they had 500000+ more bearings in house then they ordered.

Found 100% identical fake bearings, box, weight, size, packing, stampings, engraving 100% identical to real ones.

They found they have fakes are mixed in with the real ones right out of the incoming shipping supply.

Only way to tell is by hardness and spectrometer tests which are destructive process.

They said they have stopped selling and shipping known bearing types with fakes found until real ones can be verified.

sucks!!!!

I'm pretty sure all the NGK plugs I've gotten were made in Japan.

These plugs were picked up at Camelback in Phoenix in Jan of this year. Same origin if I get them locally in Canada. I noticed the switch from Japan about a year ago. I haven’t noticed any performance difference.

Oh nuts. Phone won’t upload photos. You’ll have to take my word for it, made in Indonesia.
